Hey all-- my names Carrington but yall can call me Carri.. I'm been a part of the site for about a month or so. If u check my profile I do have a previous discussion open about my boyfriends discharging. I would greatly appreciate some advice as to what I'm about to ask.. But it would be helpful if you checked out the discharging discussion to fully understand this situation. Well about my current question.. My boyfriend went on restriction on the 11th of May. He originally was sent for 45 days. But the last time I talked to him which was Sunday the 13th of May he said depending on how long regional takes I process determines if he gets out sooner. He was suppose to sign the papers on the 14th of May and once tht went through he would have three more weeks of restriction instead of the orginal 45 days. But the problem is I have not talked to him since the 13th here it is the 22nd I have no idea his current state or how is doing which worries me greatly. But my question is, he mentioned other guys in restriction getting letters from famlily. He did not tell me or give me an address to which I could sent letters I know the base and everything but I don't know how or of I could send him letters. I've been emailing him so when he is allow to use his phone on Sundays (6:30-9:30) he can read them and all that. Is there any way for me to call and fine out where he is serving the restriction as well as if I could contact him either by mail or phone? I'm very new to the navy world as I have mentioned in my other discussion so before commenting please check that one out.. Any feedback would be greatly accepted and appreciated! Thank you!

Legally no one can tell you anything, why?  He is a grown adult and it is up to him to tell whomever he would like the information about what is going on.

Regarding the emergancy and using Red Cross, that is only for family members.

Keep leaving him messages, and maybe he will call you or email you when he can

So there is no way to get an mailing address? I know the base so could I put his name and then the base address? I don't know, I'm sorry I know very little about how the military works in these types of situation.
So do you suggest I address it? His name ranking and then the base's address?
I have the base address b of A school but now that he's on restriction I don't have the restriction barracks address to ensure the letter would get to him

Carrington - I sent you a PM with all the info.  Just call them up.

I also totally agree with lemon, just write to the address you were originally writing to.  They will forwarded it to him.  It's just like when you move, they always get the letters to you somehow....

Carrington - Whatever base he's on, call the base legal.  They should be able to give you the general information on the address you can write to.  Just tell them "If someone is in restriction on your base, what is the general address for getting a letter to someone on restriction".  They just can't give you his address, the general information is public knowledge.  Since you are not specifically saying his name, it public knowledge and has no privacy act requirement.  Just let them know they you already have the name, but you need the general address information so the letter gets to him.

You could also call the base post office.  They will know too....  Bottomline is just don't use his name when talking to them (unless they ask), then they are not violating the privacy act.

Craig how is it that you manage to save me every time? Lol you are such a huge help! Okay so your advice to me which be call the base legal and speaking in general just ask " if someone on your base is in restriction what is the general address for getting a letter to that person?" you mention letting them know they already have the name.. I'm confused can you explain? Now, the base post office... Is that my better bet rather than going through base legal?

If it were me, I'd call the base post office 1st.  They know their stuff.  They can lead you to the proper address, but make sure you take to a supervisor, do talk to someone that is just there doing part time work.

What I said about legal, is talk in general terms.  You don't want them to shut you off because you are talking privacy issues (ie his name).  Keep it all in basic terms. What you don't want is to mention his name and have them immediately shut you down because you're not a family member. HOWEVER, if they ask for his name, then tell them. Who cares if they know it or not?  It doesn't matter at this point.  Just try to keep him out of the equation for now, but again, if they ask, tell them....

Okay so you would call te base post office first, any ideas of how I get that phone number? Im thinking tomorrow I will call, but once I get a supervisor where do I go from there? Ask if I could get the address for a sailor on restriction on their base?

What base is he on? PM me if you don't want it public....

Hey Craig, sent you a private message.
