Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

USS Columbia, Jesse is a ET/Navigator (Quartermaster was the old rate) He is based out of Pearl Harbor. He just reinlisted for another 5 years, been in for 5 years already. Time sure has flown. Thing I miss most about having him home? He is 6'3" and could reach the stuff on the top shelves for me.

My sister and I went to NH to visit my son in July...We went to the USS Albacore for a visit. I was amazed at how easily he manuvered through the sub...he is 6'2"+. His roommate during prototype was about 5'3", he went carriers. I sometimes wonder if it isn't easier for the taller guys...they can swing through, but always have to remember to duck.

My son is also 6'4" and the crew gave him a crash helmet at his hail and farewell. He has now learned to duck and step high the passageways but saves his helmet for any new guys that experience the same problem.

Dear Melinda, My son isn't 6'4", but he's on a boomer! He says they all duck a lot and it's not quite every day, but almost that several people bump their heads! Where's your son? Kris has been in the Navy now for 11 years, so I'm a rather seasoned Navy Mom. Love, Andi

Do you mean the USS Columbus? My son Dean is also ET/Nav on the USS Columbus based out of Pearl Harbor. Are there 2 different subs with names that similar? He is new--just go to Pearl in August and is not "Qualified" yet. My son is 6'3 1/2" also. He said he lays diagonally on the rack.
