Hello,
My son left for boot camp on 7/23. I cried so much the first two days .It's so overwhelming seeing my son leave without us with him. I spend a lot of time reading and watching the u tub videos they have on this site. It makes me feel better knowing more of what my son is going through. I Also know people who where/ are in the military and ask them a lot of questions. My first question was do you feel the same as we do when you leave. Answer she gave me was , No because we are the ones going away .Not to say we are not upset / home sick it's Just put in the back of your mind. She said when you walk off the bus you have so much going through your mind you really don't think about home .You want to make sure you listen and follow directions. She goes on saying your scared ,you break down but that's part of it.The first two weeks are hard but as time passes it gets a little easier. After talking to her I felt better knowing someone who went through it. Great news about your mom
I know exactly how you feel. We are almost in the exact same boat (literally) My son left the 15th and I cried a week straight. Now I cry about once a day and it hits me at random. My husband also works out of town and is leaving tomorrow until mid September so I will also be alone the remainder time. My Husband is also my rock. Without him and my son, I don't know how I am going to do. I do have 3 girls to keep me busy, but it's a struggle without my boy and now hubby. I just keep saying "This too shall pass".
my son and i are very close too. his father and i are divorced so he has been the "man of the house" for so long..i miss him like crazy. and my other son who is 16 has been on a cross country road trip with his aunt and uncle all summer long .. now that both are gone i am lost. i started working a second job to keep my mind occupied.
I will not be washing my sons shirt either. It will go in his keepsake box along with a photo of him the day he left. I cherish every memory of my boy. He is truly my heart and best friend.
