For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Sad but Proud
Hello,
I too, join all the families proud of the loved ones but sadly missing them at the same time. My son left for boot camp on Tuesday, July 7th. We heard from him briefly (and I do mean briefly) that same night just to alert us that he had arrived safely. I know that he is strong, disciplined, smart and determined; however I still just the same. My only comfort is that my husband is a Navy veteran (although I met him after he had finished his active duty and was at that time in the Reserves); saying that to say, he constantly assures me that our son is and will be FINE. Still the same, I am his mother and this is my first and oldest child. Can't wait to get that package so that we can write and also get to graduation on 09/04/15, I think.....If anyone else out there has loved ones that left on 07/07/15 please keep in touch.

Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect. "The box" will come soon and then The Form Letter with his address and PIR date. You may be right that PIR is 09/04/2015, but wait on The Form Letter to know for sure.

Hello leftygirl22! Our first and oldest son left 7/7 as well for boot camp. He just graduated high school in May so we have had a busy few months. Two parties, Memorial Day, his younger brother's birthday.... so much build up then the swearing in. It took me a few days for everything to sink in. I don't cry as much when I think of our son. Now, my mom is a different story! Ha!
Our son is following in the footsteps of his paternal grandfather, maternal great grandfather, two uncles, and several cousins by enlisting with the Navy. He was 100% ready to go and serve his country. Not much to dispute but it was hard to let him go. The brief "I arrived safely" call was tough. Our son sounded tired ( IM sure he was exhausted....) but not sad. That made me happy. I did want to go to GL and bring him home. Irrational, I know!
So now we wait for "The BOX" and the form letter. I must admit I'm not an overly patient person!
Good luck and keep posting on this site. Maybe our sons will be in the same division!
