For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hello, I'm new to the group and need some guidance pertaining to Ship 5 and SEPS - Any help of direction is appreciated.

Jamie27 - I am glad that B'sNukeMom was able to assist you. I hope you find the information and support that you need. Please feel free to post in the Ship 5 group as it might be helpful to anyone in the future.
I am sorry that your SR is in SEPS. As a mom we want the best for our kids. When they are hurting, and we don't know how to help them it is difficult. Let them know that you are still proud of them, they are still a good person, and they should hold their head high for being willing to join the Navy. I don't know the circumstances surrounding the reasons they are in SEPS, but in some cases, they are able to reapply after a period of time if this is something they still want to do.
Mostly, make sure you let them know that you will always love them, and they may not know how to share with you, you may not understand what they are going through, but you are willing to listen and willing to walk this new season in their life with them.

Thank you, I'm having a hard time trying to find information and my son's status. This is the 3rd week he's been in SEPS and he hasn't met with legal yet. I called the numbers listed and left voice message but that was over 4 hours ago and I still haven't got a reply from legal, is this normal to take so long?

Don't be surprised if they don't get back to you right away. Things are so out of sorts right now, there is no "normal". Also, your son will have to give the legal dept permission to speak with you so let's hope he has done that. Be sure to ask him that the next time you speak with him. Hopefully you'll either him from him or legal soon....be sure to answer all calls you may get just in case.

Hi Jamie27 - I don't have any experience with SEPS, I am just another Navy Mom on this site that helps in our BC Mom group. If you are calling legal at GL, then yes, it could take a long time for them to reply. They may not even reply if your SR has not authorized a HIPPA or other legal designation for them to speak to you, since they are over 18.
I am sorry, but the saying "Hurry up and wait" applies in many situations with the Navy and this is most likely one of them.

Jamie27 - I noticed on the Ship 5 page, when scrolling down a bit that there is a number for the ombudsman at Recruit Training Command. You might want to reach out to them and see if they have any information that you can glean from them as well. When the sailors are assigned to a ship or command out in the fleet the ombudsman is the liaison between the families and the command, so it might be helpful to reach out to that number or email as well.
It also mentioned that a waiver needed to be signed for legal to talk to you. I don't know if your SR mentioned anything about that to you or not. That was what I was referring to below.

Thank you. I'm just worried, especially when I found out he had not met with legal after being on ship 5 for 2 weeks plus. He usually gets to call a few minutes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but last week I didn't get a call from him on Thursday; I've heard that if someone in the group messes up they will punish the whole group and deny phone privileges. That being said, he was allowed to call Saturday for just a few minutes and he had mentioned that another young recruit in training was put in SEPS the same day he was, and for the same thing, and he's coming home this Friday.
