What some moms have done is write a separate letter and include it with the letters to their SR, and ask their SR to give it to someone who is not getting mail.  They all know who doesnt receive mail. (you can even include a self-addressed stamped envelope for a reply) In our division, one mom did that, and got a reply from a young man who was grateful for the letter and told her that he does not expect to get any mail for all of boot camp.  It was a heartwrenching reply, and several of the other moms asked for his name to write to him.

Another good idea came from one mom who was involved in elementary school classes.  She had her class write cards to the SRs and she mailed the whole package to her SR who then distributed the letters to the others.  It was a big hit getting cards from the children telling them thank you for their service.

Great ideas, ladies! Thank you!
Any news from SR's in  02/344?  I'm so curious to know what they have been up to!  I hear week three is the hardest and they've completed it! and just as important, we've completed it :)
Hi drjh, I haven't heard anything from my son, hoping for a letter later this week. Can't stop thinking of them all, and wondering how they're doing. Also hoping for a call too, can't wait to hear his voice again.
My son called last Friday afternoon. He said he is so busy that he hasn't had time to write. He has two jobs. He sounded good though and he thanked me for all the letters. So keep them going! And thanks to all of you for keeping me sane!

I did not get a letter this week, figured maybe because of the holiday. I was hoping for a phone as well. This is a lot harder than what I thought it would be, I can't wait to see my daughter. Hope you guys are hanging in there.

No letter here either. I'm jealously happy for you who are getting the calls! Thank goodness for this support board.

Thanks for all your responses. It seems each week has it's own challenges. I thought I was doing better, then I came across a message my fiance left for me to find before he left. It was sweet, but I lost it!! on with the water works.  Anyhow,I enjoy hearing what others hear from their SR's, because in many ways they all talk about something different and it helps me piece together a small picture of what they are going through. As Briansmom said, "thanks for keeping me sane!"

If anyone has any stories or news on how week 3 went for ship 2 div 344'ers, would love to hear them.

I'm such a dingbat!!  I looked at the ship and division #'s and got them mixed up...joined the wrong group!!  *ugh*  Found the right one...THIS one!!  :-)  And I'm the one who gets on my SR's little brothers about paying attention!!  We got a letter today, and I was on the phone with my SR's girlfriend when she was handed 8 letters by her Mom!  The sound of excitement in her voice was FANTASTIC!!  LOOOVE the idea of having kids make cards/write letters for the division, and really love the idea of writing a letter to someone not getting any mail.  I'll try and do that this weekend!

Hi ladies, I'm so excited today, was hoping for a letter from my SR and got 2. He is doing really good, passed his physical with flying colors, and was waiting for the results of his dep test. If he passed that he makes E2, fingers crossed !!!!!

He also said he is a section leader and has a thing to wear on his collar, not quite sure what that all means, but I'm sure someone on here will be able to tell me ?

He has thanked me for his letters and hoping for more, so keep sending those letters, I know they really look forward to them. I too will be sending some to a SR not receiving any mail, can't imagine how lonely that would be.

My SR has been there over 3 weeks, is there any chance of a call this weekend, or am i just dreaming?

Good luck to everyone else, I hope you all receive letters too, or a call. Take care, only 5 more weeks to go!!!!!
