While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

HELLO EVERYONE!! We received our form letter from our son today and he jotted a short note on the back page. He sounds really good and very positive. It was so nice to hear from him! :) I miss him like crazy, but I feel so much better today because I can now be in touch with him. Hope you all have or will be getting them real soon too!
Look forward to keeping in touch and getting to know all of the other moms.

We received "the box" Tuesday, July 3rd. So less than a week. Shouldn't be much longer for you now.
And the clothes were in the box, pants rolled up (they have to roll them up to get measured for their boots) just like people have been telling me. LOL

Since your Recruit is in a performing division, you may also want to join the Group, 900's division sailors (clickable link). There will be information on there that relates to your situation. Here is a site I found that explains about 900 Divisions: The Requirements for the Navy RTC 900 Division I believe that Division 941 is Ship Staff/Honor Guard.
Ship Staff is in charge on PIR day. They greet and welcome the Officers and their distinguished guests as Sideboys, they play the role of "Body Snatcher" walking up and down the rows of Sailors, watching for and sometimes catching any Sailor about to or going down. They lock their knees sometimes and pass out). They help the Navy Corpsmen in he back room, they Guard doors and perform a myriad of tasks behind the scenes and in front. It is their job to help make sure all goes smoothly. The Honor Guard Drill Team (they're the ones with the yellow ascots) also does a rifle performance at the beginning of the ceremony.

Sorry for the confusion. LOL I wanted to move my discussion into the correct group.

We are curious as well! He isn't a singer and he doesn't play an instrument. LOL So I can't help but think that he is probably doing something in the Ship Staff (Side Boy or Body Snatcher), or maybe Honor Guard since he has experience with rifles. We thought it was pretty exciting when we found out that our son was chosen to be in the 900 DIV....now we are anxious to know what he will be doing in it. It would be neat to find out if they have met one another. :)

Same here with the music thing. Is this the only separate group for I was not totally sure if they sign up for stuff, go on high test scores, or is it really that random. 941? My SR has shot rifles and generally is an outdoorsman type as far as handling other weapons like bows, paintballs, rifles.. He was in a Sea Cadets program so not sure if that gave him any more clout to be chosen or not.

The 900's group that lemonelephant posted may have some insight. Also, LaLa Ribbon Queen (a regular veteran mom on the PIR groups) Sailor was in a 900 Division. So she may have some insight as well!

Looks like some are finding us now cincymomdp. I was kind of wondering the same thing. I would like to get to know some of the other moms in my son's ship & division. :)
So how are you doing? I wonder if my son Dalton has met your son?
