We got the "letter" today!!!!

We are both so excited to finally know his address and what division he is in!!! We had both encouraged him to tell the truth when asked about previous marching experience and apparently he did since he is in Div 943! We are both thrilled to see him on 9/7!!!

I just got a call from my son!!! He sounds great. He said they are always studying and IT is really hard. The food is really good and he's eating about 2 1/2 meals worth of food at every meal. He's made a lot of friends too. What a great start to the weekend. Only 5 weeks tip PIR.

My husband got the call today from Eric as I am working. He passed his float test and will be playing trombone and marching during PIR. He is having a great time, and says the group is really coming together as a team. WOOT! GO DIV 943!! Getting used to running in boots is new for him. Hunting boots are usually used at lower speeds. ;-) He is really positive about his experiences so far. AND! He has learned to keep mouth shut and do as told. Nineteen years I worked on that and he gets it after a couple of weeks in GL. GO NAVY!

Glad we have a fantastic bunch of recruits here in SHIP 02 DIV 943. High five to all Navy 'rents!

I got to talk to Clarissa for 1/2 an hour, I was at work and usually leave my phone sitting somewhere close but not on me BUT tonight I had it in my pocket Thank goodness I did:) she had her wisdom teeth pulled, says food is good, she if in the choir and carrying a flag..She also said that super maxi pads have never been a friend but they sure treated her feet well. it was wonderful to finely hear her voice. Go DIV 943!!

Hey Parents,

I just found a new group on Facebook for 900 divisions. Check it out. https://www.facebook.com/groups/166716826797840/

I got to talk to Tyler last night! The call was completely unexpected!! He wanted to ask me some questions about joining the Ceremonial Guard in Washington DC. The call wasn't actually from Tyler but I did get to speak to him! The Command Master Chief for the Ceremonial Guard is the one who called me and talked to me for a few minutes then he said that Tyler wanted to ask me a few questions. It was all business with Ty.....I have a feeling the CMC intimidated him a little so he kept it business. After talking to him, I spoke to the CMC again.

Ty was selected to join them and from my conversation with him, he accepted! The CMC put it this way to me "The Ceremonial guard is like the Blue Angels of the enlisted personnel". What an honor for Ty!!!

Yay for Tyler! That is really neat! I'm glad our recruits are doing well. Does this mean a delay in his A school?

HOORAH for all our recruits! Go Navy!

Yes, he will be stationed in DC for two years then go back to Great Lakes for A school. From the little research I have done since last night on this, it is basically boot camp again for him once he gets to DC. He will have 6-9 weeks of training with about 8 inspections that he must pass before he "Drills out".....I think this means he has to perform. I'm still looking for more information on it for him so I can help him to be a little more prepared.

Letters today!!!!!! Yay!!!!!! Anyone else?

We got 2 letters from our SR. One to mom and one to his brother. He said he didn't have time to write dad too. That's ok, we share. He said he's doing much better. He's not so lonely.

We got another letter from Eric today. He says they are getting yelled at less in inspections which is a plus. He has learned to iron. HOLY COW! He can iron! hehehehe. He has matured so much in just four weeks.Team building is the most important thing needed. Each recruit needs to make sure that skills are learned by everyone. Some recruits have learned this more quickly than others, it seems. Drill practice is fun. He always enjoyed the marching band in high school. This is more meaningful now in Great Lakes. I hope all of our recruits keep improving and enjoying their time together becoming sailors of the USN.

I've noticed the maturing in the letters that have come so far too. Pretty amazing what the Navy can do in such a short time to our kids isn't it!

We got another letter from Eric. The recruits are starved for music. :) The training is proceeding, they are looking forward to PIR, All will miss their new friends as they go to A-schools. Ah, youth! WOOHOO to all our recruits!
