Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 912.

Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Yes, I got a good letter today, dated Dec 30. Hope they let them call soon. They were not permitted to write for the 1st 3 weeks they were there, so it is very good to have gotten an informational letter. Sounds like they are very busy - they are performing for 3 graduations, including their own. Will be an exciting graduation for sure.

Got a call today from my SR. He was very upbeat and said it wasn't as bad as he thought. He said they would perform in 3 graduations including his own. He said they are working together and becoming a family. Has anyone else gotten a call today?

Yes, we got a call today and I talked to him for about 25 minutes myself! He said that many had a flu last week but they're getting better with no impact to PIR date. He also said that they don't get letters very often (even though we send some everyday!) and that some SRs get no letters. I was thinking of sending a card in his next few letters to pass on to those who aren't getting any. Any other ideas?

All:  Yep, I too got a call from my SR.  It was such a relief to get one that was not requesting documentation or information for his security clearance!  LOL!!  My call was fairly short, but great to hear his voice for 5 min.  The cool part was that he had also been able to call his Mom (my Ex) first for longer, which thrilled her as well, and was fine by me.

I've also received a couple more very short notes from him, all pretty upbeat.  It's good to hear that it seems the Division is doing well on working together [from Heidi's post].   He has made no mention of the flu, but I received a note from one of the other parents about that as well.  [Sorry not to get back to you yet, Pam.]  It's good to hear that so far that [flu] does not appear to be affecting graduation for anyone.  But I'm still sorry for those whose SR's have caught it.

Someone asked about Meet&Greets?  I  am personally going to be at Sarge's.  The reputation is that it is a pretty good set-up and lots of info.  I'll also be trying to persuade his Mom & Stepdad to be there.  In any case, if you're there, look for an ancient retired USAF NCO wandering about with a dazed look on his face.  It's likely to be me.

Oh, and a belated very Happy New Year to my ever-expanding 'Navy Family.'

Yes, I got a call from my SR on Thursday. He was able to call home for 35 minutes!! It was so nice to talk to him. He said that they were on day 2-5 and where doing their battlestation the Wednesday before graduation.

My SR also earn the privilege to call home last night. He earn the phone call by shining 7 pairs of boots, he still had two more sets to do before he could go to bed last night. It was a short but sweet 5 minute phone call. It was nice to know that the RDC's are giving extra phone calls. You could receive a call at anytime, he called us last night at 9:30 pm.

Great news, Cheryl!  Congrats!

Dee, what's your daughter's rating?  My daughter is in 912, and her school is also in GL.  Her rating is EN (Engineman).  She told me she was happy to find out that due to her rating she is really a "Fireman Recruit" instead of a "Seaman Recruit" so she hopes to have fewer crude jokes come her way :-).

@Dee -- I'll be at Sarge's Meet and Greet, so I guess that won't work out but maybe we'll meet at PIR -- I understand we'll be hanging around for a long time before the ceremony starts, and it sounded like guests tend to sit in the area for their division.!

Is there a specific Facebook page for this PIR and division?

@Heidi, there's a FB page for this PIR, but I haven't seen a specific one for the division.  Look for "PIR 02-01-13 TG 12 - 15 Divisions" and it should come up.

Heidi there is also a 900 division on Facebook. Search 900 Division -Great Lakes, IL - US Navy. On the 900 division other parents post pictures of graduations. We should be able to see pictures of our recruits next friday.

Hello.  I'm new to the group and new to the Navy family.  Thanks for all the helpful information.  I look forward to meeting you and watching our sons and daughters perform on 2-1-13.
