Yayyyy!!!  Maybe I'll have one when I get home!  That is so exciting.  Thank you SOOOO much for the info. I am soooo proud!!  Can't wait to get home!!!

dttbrammer: btw, getting that news from you was almost as good as hearing from my son!!!! Whooo Hooo!!

No letter from my SR today :(   dttbrammer, do you know when that flag ceremony took place? I hope to get a letter tomorrow - i figure it should take 3 days from IL to FL.  I've sent him lots of letters!

Just got a letter from my daughter! She is in ship 3 div 139. She said the p days were rough but behind them. She is a rescue swimmer and she said there are 6 others in her division in that field. She said they just this sunday got to start writing and they can only write on Sundays so the lettters should start coming <3

So glad you got a letter!! Did she mention the award for the flag ceremony in her letter?

Rescue swimmer ... that sounds VERY exciting!

KathiMcG-You mentioned that your daughter will be a rescue swimmer. My son is signed up for that as well but he was put in the spec ops div.(811)

Is he or she doing something different than than the other? Did she perform a lot of PSTs before bc?

No letter from our SR either.  :-(  Hopefully soon!  She is a structural aircraft mechanic.  No doubt all of them are quite busy right now (which won't change).  My husband is a retired Army officer and now a Department of the Army civilian so we are happy with her choice to serve our beloved country!  We will all be able to thank them for their service one day soon...after PIR!

Sad article on the news today about an Army enlisted soldier who was run over by a 16T truck after saving an Afghan little girl who was in the road.

At any rate -- we will all hang in there together.

That is sad about the soldier.

Hopefully we will hear from our SRs soon!!!  The unfortunate thing about my SR is that he is known as "a man of few words".  When he eventually writes me, I'm not expecting many details - and that's going to drive me crazy :P

im not sure about which flag ceremony it was, he said it was because they were doing so well? I've read somewhere on here about a couple different flags that can be awarded to them during bootcamp and it is a really big deal. So happy it was our kids:)  He said their petty officer told them that if anyone could beat his time in the 1 1/2 mile run that they would get a candy bar of their choice and an hour phone call home!! My son's time is 11min 45 sec.  The petty officer's is 9 min 20 sec.  So if anyone can beat that throughout the course of bootcamp they get a great reward:)

I'm glad to know my son was placed with a great group of guys!  He called me one week after being gone and told me he was appointed Master-At-Arms.  He seemed excited about that.  The call was VERY short and I've been wanting to hear more about it. Although he works out every day, he is not much of a runner so I'd be shocked if he beat the petty officer's time!  Thanks again for the info!

I meant ...with a good group of guys and gals!!!
