OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Ship 03 (USS Hopper) Divisions 039 and 040 (Brother Divisions)
Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 039 and 040.
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!

My recruit failed their fitness test (run) or swim qualification. When will he/she graduate or what is their status?A.
While recruits are listed in this status, they are not scheduled to graduate. They will not get another phone call until their status changes, meaning: They have passed their test. If they pass before their graduation date, they will complete Battle Stations with whatever division is going through it next. If they pass their test after their original division has graduated, they will then go directly on to their A School. They will not participate in a graduation ceremony as their division would have already graduated and we do not wish to delay their A School training any further.This is the informetion on the official navy site, hope it will not happen to my son!

Wow! That's pretty scary. I hope they all do well and make their graduation. I'm hoping to get my letters today, too, and hopefully there will be some concrete information in there somewhere. I'll post if I find out anything.

We got a letter from our son today! He sounds REALLY good - I love the joy and pride I hear in his letters!
He said he's getting about four or five letters each mail call (I'm not sure if mail call is every day, or every few days), and it's earned him the reputation as "that guy who gets a ridiculous amount of mail." We're sending a letter every day, and we've also got family, friends, and church sending letters/notes/cards.
The funniest bit to me was how excited he was about shooting guns. "I still can't believe they PAID me to do that!" LOL He was also thrilled to report that he passed his PFA. In his first PFA, his 1.5 mile run was done in 16:08 (not fast enough). After three weeks, he'd taken three minutes off that time and made it in 12:55 and he's talking about actually enjoying PT.
He's apparently also got a chest cold going, and he's hoping the gas chamber will clear that up. He said some of the instructors go in just to clear out the crud the recruits give them. :-) He said medical gave him some Mucinex to help clear it up and wanted to give him a day in SIQ, but "No way I'm laying about in bed with this much work to do!"
Now that we've made it this far, I'm getting paranoid that something is going to come up and bump him off track. My husband says that if worrying were an Olympic sport, I'd get Gold, Silver, and Bronze. He's right - I can find just about anything to worry about! LOL

NCNarrator! HA! What a great post! Love the part about the gas chamber...and it is true, those who go in sick usually come out well! Not a fun experience as it is happening... very "messy" if you know what I mean ...but they do seem to feel better when done! :-) Funny about the RDCs doing this just to get well themselves!
dahlinka: You will need to delete your post above with the BattleStations date in it. We are not allowed to post them on the site. But now I have 039/040 on the schedule! They will be the first divisions to go through and could be joined by 041/042. Not sure yet. You can private message the dates to each other. Just click the "x" in the box to delete! Remember that BattleStations is an overnight drill (12 hours) and calls come in the afternoon that they finish. They are sailors then!

Div 039 I received 2 letters today that were written Dec. 7 and 8 - said he was neglecting himself some sleep to write some decent letters. They have been so busy. He said he scored a perfect 5.0 score on his personel inspection and weapons inspection but failed his rack inspection - he can't fold clothes to the Navy standard but said his failure won't affect his graduation so not to worry. He said he won't find out if he is ET or FC until week 6 when he will get his orders.He said he didn't get to call last Sat. because he had received his itinerary in the mail for his flights and he was all set. He says he is sure that ET and FC are backed up so he will be on hold when he gets back on the 6th. He wants me to bring him a few things up to him at PIR: his PHONE, boxers, cold medicines, a Milky Way candy bar and his wallet with his debit card. He said next Sunday (meaning tomorrow) was his last letter send. He said he's got the papers to order his pictures and DVD. Dec. 10 they had Drill inspection and Test 2, Dec. 13 they had Firefight 1, Dec. 14 they had Firefight 2 and the Gas Chamber, Dec. 17 is their last inspection, Dec. 18 is their last drill inspection, Dec. 19 is their PFA final. They still have BS 21, Test 3 and Firefight 3. He says "Dec 29 @ 1600 - Free from Hell. Hopefully it was OK to post the dates of these items. Hope that helps some of you with how they are moving along.

My son is in the Advanced Electronics Computer Field - AECF - within that field are two sub-ratings - ET is Electronic Technician and FC is Fire Control. ET's fix, program and maintain most of all the electronics on the ship except for nuclear. FC's are responsible for the programming and maintaining all electronics relating to firing a ship's weapons (not fire fighting).
