awh   I want one... we have a lab, Hurley he is 8 yrs old 110 lbs.  I love him

Proudoedmommy, I pulled that picture.  It wasn't the picture I wanted to share.  I took it with my iPad and the quality was horrible. Let me find a better one.

OK.  This one is better.

We used to have a lab about that same size.  Great dogs.  We decided to downsize to the Boykin Spaniel.  That way, we could get two.  Now I have seven!  But the last five are leaving in a few weeks.

never heard of them, but now i an going to look them up. soo cute!

so my boy's pir is may 4th, still no phone call.  kinda sticks....

How is your son liking prep?  can you call him?

brenda

The Boykin is the South Carolina state dog.  They are around 25-35 pounds, all brown and full of energy.  We live in a wooded area so they are constantly on the move chasing squirrels and birds.  They were bred to be field and water dogs, as well as family dogs.  Great temperament - like the lab.

The first time I heard my son's voice was the day of the "I'm a Sailor" call.  I had told him to call his girlfriend first if he ever got a call.  I knew she would remember every word and I would remember a third of what he said.  Old brain vs. new brain.  Plus that, I knew he would tell her a lot more than he would tell me.  Getting smart in my old age.

I don't know much about prep, yet.  They were to have had a meeting Sunday night to learn more. I got a text last night that said he would call later. I'll let ya'll know the definition of "later" when I get the call.  My husband and I leave it up to him when he wants to communicate.  I'll send him pictures of the puppies, but that's about it.

This morning I saw a cute cartoon on the internet, so I printed it out to send to my son.  Then I realized that I didn't have to do that anymore.  Old habits die slowly.  Like I said, old brain.

I joined the "Care Packages" site and they have some great ideas on things for the next phase.  I asked my Sailor what he wanted in his first care package and he was adamant that he didn't want a care package until he had a little more space.  As I was going through my stuff at the hotel, he leaned over and asked for all the Shout wipes I had brought and the bar of Irish Spring and all the left over Wintergreen Life Savers and the Ricola and the Burts Bees lip balm, and the leftover cookies----get the picture?  It got funnier as I was packing up all the leftover barbeque I had brought him.  He wanted to take that back, as well, since they have a small refrigerator in their room.  I was scrounging around for containers.  So, my next suggestion is if he is staying at GL and if you bring food with you, make sure you bring plastic throw away containers for his "I don't want a care package".

LOL! That's priceless!! Thanks Bob's Mom for "adopting" our PIR group! I'm a 900 Division, and am hanging out EVERYWHERE to get any tidbits I can.

That's okay ,CB. I'm lurkin around y'alls group for the same reason.  :-)

That's hilarious!  I did the same thing with all the groups surrounding mine.

OMG!  I am so excited to have the ribbons for my SR!  Lala you did a fantastic job.  My SR will be SO surprised to see his name and division on each of his supporters at PIR!   Thank you Lala!  I encourage all of your to share a ribbon of pride with your recruit.

GOT A LETTER -GOT A LETTER!!!!!!   i'm so excited as this SR does not write home mama as much as she would like!!!!

That said Sr states the div is "much better now, working cohesive as a team is great"

Still trying to catch up on his learning but should be graduating on time.

He was scheduled to get his pictures taken and commnented that they can smile but most SR are too tired to do so. (didn't think about that....)

He said that yes they get to eat about 5 pounds of food each meal.( And I thought it was hard to get him full before he went to BC-lol).

PT is coming along and he is doing better on this times but still not the best.

He says that freedom is in his grasp and looking forward to seeing us all soon. Can't wait to get his phone back. (I was wondering how long that was gonna last) He is counting down the days.

Just thought that I would share as we all want any ole tidbits that we can get, right?
