Hoping to connect with anyone else who may have an SR in this division! Got a letter from him yesterday and was able to have a very brief conversation with him 11/11/11. So good to hear his voice.

My daughter is in ship 07 DIV 033! Received adopt a sailor request form and a letter she wrote on the 20th. We hope to hear from her soon via phone mid week (late in her 3rd).

She got a "job" on ship staff- has anyone else heard of this and what it might entail? She seemed pretty pleased with the idea.

She left on nov 2nd. Our family is anxious, we miss her dearly, but extremely proud:)!!

Back again! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I tried to sign on to the site while I was at my daughter's in  Boise, but for some reason the site would not recognize my email address, so I had to sign on again under a new, but similar name. I have received three letters, one was included in the life insurance paperwork that I received. He sounded good, but we missed him so much over the holidays. Can't wait to see him at graduation.

I finally received my first phone call from my daughter yesterday, Thurs.Dec 1!!!!!!  It was so great to hear her voice, even though the connection was a bit crackly at times.  Thanks to this site, when I saw the "847" area code, I was pretty sure it was her, although all she could say was, "Hi" when I answered the phone because she was so choked-up :(  Thankfully, I was able to stay positive and not get choked-up as well so we could make the most of our short time together on the phone.

She said that their division is starting to gel more like a family and that on Tues & Thurs (starting next week?) they will be allowed 25 min to write letters, as opposed to just on Sundays.  They have had decent weather and it hasn't snowed yet. She also said that even though they and the women from their brother DIV (034) are getting along better, there is still discord because there is an "us against them" mentality.

She had 20 minutes to make her phone call(s) and we spoke for only about 12 or 13 minutes, so that she could have time to call her boyfriend, who unfortunately missed her call because he was upstairs and his phone was downstairs :(

Her friend, who just completed bc 2 months ago, said he was allowed to make another phone call at about 5 weeks.  Who knows if that will be true for DIV 033, but knowing that there is a chance before Christmas to hear from her again is encouraging, especially for her boyfriend, and there's always the chance of winning a phone call as a reward for getting a high score on a test or inspection.

Well, I hope that many other moms received phone calls as well this week!  Blessings to you all!   Teri  :)

Thanks Teri for the info. My daughter chose to call her boyfriend but I got a chance to speak with her a week after leaving for BC. Glad you got a chance to speak with your daughter. My daughter has written me and mentioned as well they are working together much better. Praying for them all that they mess and all succeed in their achievements. In count down for 1/6/12.

My daughter is also in Division 033 and has mentioned that they are all starting to come together even with the sister division 034. She even mentioned that a girl from division 034 came over and helped her when she had a bad PT day. Talked her thru and kept her going. I have also heard that at about week 5 they get to call again. I have been receiving more letters and it sounds like everything is starting to get eaiser for most.

I also got to talk to my son on 12/1/11, was talking to my aunt, but when I saw the caller ID I almost hung up on her trying to accept his call. He sounded really good, much better than he did in the letters. I was really nervous about graduation day as he had written that there division got held up in processing for 2wks(normally about 4 days), but he told me that they will graduate as planned, they just fit more stuff into a shorter time frame. I am excited to see him at PIR, he said he is a stick(carries the flag) and is in the front row. Counting the days!

Our recruit called on Thursday, 12/1/11.  I started a new job and had to have my phone on silent.  As you can imagine I broke into tears when I noticed I had 3 missed calls and a voicemail from my daughter.  She tried calling her dad, who happened to be out of his office.  She was able to get ahold of her two sisters who were thrilled to hear from her.  However, I was extremely disappointed to hear thru them what she had to say.  I really needed to hear her voice and talk to her.  I am hoping that she will call again soon.  I am keeping my phone closer to me and if I get the call again, you can bet, new job or not, I am going to answer that phone.  Our family is getting more excited every day to see her at graduation.  She has been sending letters and sounds like she is tired but is doing great.  We are so proud of her.  Christmas is going to be so different this year, but with the excitement of seeing her right after the holidays is going to make Christmas much easier.

Melanie's mom, I am so sorry to hear that and understand how you felt. When my son called home after mom dad died, I thought that it was the insurance agency(I got hit by an uninsured driver 3d after my father died)that I did not answer, on purpose! Later that night when I did listen to the message I too cried. Now I know the location he is calling from and when I saw it on my phone was afraid that I was going to cut him off trying to answer the call. My patient's now know why I carry my phone in my pocket with the ringer on and are starting to ask me if I have heard from him! Thankful I have an understanding workplace and coworkers!  The most difficult thing I have done so far was attend a varsity hockey game over the weekend with my mom and see someone else wearing his number. He loved that his team so I have been sending him the articles out of the paper!

I hope that they will be calling again soon and that you will be available for this call as I know how much it means! Take care and we will be meeting soon!

Got a letter today. They almost were able to get a phone call but still not quite there. Though they are now working together they still have some work to do. Praying they get it together..Come on girls you can do it. Us parents believe in you al!!!

Got a quick "wake-up" call this morning from my daughter!!!  It was so short because she called her boyfriend first, since he missed her call last time (he almost missed it this time too because he was asleep - she had to call him twice!).  It woke me up as well, and she told me that she didn't have much time, so I'm running all over the house to wake/find everyone.  Her dad, two sisters and I were able to quickly gather to hear her and tell her that we loved her over speaker phone before she had to go.

She sounded great!  This was a reward call for passing their PSA, I think (I was still waking-up and running around the house!). She said they still might get to call next week too :)  I'm so glad that she was able to call on a Saturday so the whole family could hear her voice, what a blessing.

I hope others got a phone call as well.  Have a great weekend.  Teri

I think it was their PFA (physical fitness assessment) not PSA test that they all passed that might have earned them this phone call.

Teri, I also got a call this am. I was talking to my daughter in Boise when he called and had to hang up with her to catch the call. When my son got on the phone he said he had just tried to call his sister, but she didn't answer(while talking to him she text me that she missed his call because she did not think that there was anyone more important to talk to! She was so sad!), so my son and I talked briefly, but then he hung up so he would have time to call his sister back!!  He said that they were doing well, he has improved his run by a minute and was feeling much better(recovered from a cold and having his wisdom teeth pulled). He is anxious for me to get there for graduation, but I am more anxious. Sad the time will be so brief, but he also thinks that he will get leave in April. He said that they got the extra call because they have done well on some skills test and inspections...Looking forward to talking to him again. Glenda
