Got my husband's form letter on Monday, March 5. It was postmarked on March 1, so I'm thinking it takes about 2-3 business days to get from there to Austin, Texas. Hope that's helpful for anyone.

If anyone else's loved one is in this ship/division, please let me know. He's an AECF. I don't want anyone to go without letters so I was going to ask him if there was a particularly lonely recruit and organize some sort-of letter writing campaign so no one feels left out.

I got a letter and a phone call today. Letter was from the 19th, phone call around the same time. HOWEVER, he only got 2 minutes to talk to me since his watch duty is at the same time (which would explain why I hadn't gotten a call 'til now). I'm totally envious of all of you and your 15-30 minute chats :(

My call came from the 847 area code, so make sure you watch out for that number...hope everyone is doing well and just know that all of our guys are safe.  I did hear from my son that about 7 have dropped out of Bootcamp, which ironically they have to stay for longer than bootcamp lasts to get clearance to leave....Andrew is my sons closest friend.  Anyone have an Andrew?  Also I wrote my son and reminded him to let the others know about this websites so they could share with their loved ones.

oh wow...today i put a note on my mailbox and asked the mailmen kindly to ring the doorbell if i would receive letters from my recruit... one hour later the door bell ring, i am running as fast as i can to the door, Mailmen standing outside reporting to Mama connyAhoi, with 2 letters from my son in his hand and adding...he once was at great lakes in BC in 2007... the letter i received had so much info from my son that i could burst of joy and pride ... so proud of him ... it is tough so... I danced and jumped up and down and screaming,... love you and see you soon, wonder if he heard me <3

That is wonderful!  So happy for you.  I am totally content if I dont hear a word from here on out.  I write my son daily supporting him, after all its not about me...its about him and making it through this.  I know he is in good hands and I know he is well.  My phone call from him satisfied all my curiosity.  Of course if I get letters I will be happy...but for now.  I am fine.

Hallo Mel Honey.... i am writing everyday also... and i have a countdown spot in our kitchen, where i change numbers everyday on a chalkboard... last 2 days i took pictures with me in front of it and mailed that to him ...

... he wrote today...that they got beatings and some puked ... he said he was half full but kept it in .... they all pushing so hard forwards.. ..  i cant wait to see him soon ... have a blessed night Mel Honey

Oh, sounds horrible!

good morning everyone ... counting the days and so excited ... how is everyone doing ? today is the first chilly day... cooled off pretty much and Great Lakes looks very cool with 37 f ... wishing everyone a Blessed Weekend ...

thanks and same to you.  it got really chilly here in lancaster pa this week after having such beautiful wheather for about 2 weeks.  i can't believe we have 26 more days.  it's been a couple of days since i checked in on here but i was keeping track in my mind how many more days we had to go!  haven't heard any more from my son since the call and the 2 letters last week.  we should be coming up to the halfway way point phone call.  i'll be anxious to see between all of the family who gets that call.  since i missed the last one and only have a voice message, it would be really great to hear from him.  ive been trying hard to keep myself occupied these last couple of days and really trying to work on the weight loss that i told my son i would lose by the time he graduates.  my husband and i fight over going to the mailbox everyday to see if we have any letters.  hope everyone is doing well and are surviving!!

25 days ... i cant wait ... i am so excited ... wonder if we would get a call today or we have to wait until the last week when battlestation is ? perhaps a letter tomorrow, what would make me happy to, i was just checking in here, anyone made reservations for hotel yet ? i better get buisy and do that... we are 5 people coming... we all excited to spend the weekend on PIR with him ... have a great sunday evening ... it is beautiful in the midwest !

we have made our hotel reservations and i cannot think of the name of the hotel we are staying at.  I do think that it's about 8 miles from the base.  there is a shuttle but it apparently costs $15 a person one way.  i think that we are going to drive but park at the train station and then walk the rest of the way from there.  There were no calls or letters this past week for us or anyone else in the family from our son.  We are hoping that a letter will come this week.  I guess we will just have to wait and see!

Great ... my husband also said, it is time to make reservations ... we all looking so froward to spent some time ... they 15 dollars is hefty ... wow.... the people up there must make great money, with PIR's every week... sounds like a goldpot up ther e :-)

How are you getting 5?  I thought the limit was 4?
