Hi! I don't see a discussion group for Ship 07 DIV 221 yet, so here we go!!!  I got my first letter from my son this last Wednesday, June 6th. Did any of you also get letters yet. If so, how were your sailors doing? Mine said he's doing fine, the food is bad, he really likes his bunk mate and the two guys next to him. He also mentioned about the RDC's being strict and serious but fair. He didn't date his letter, but I think he wrote it last Sunday. I can't WAIT to hear more from him. I hope you're all doing well and can't WAIT to visit with all of you on here!!!

No letter today. I so hope to get one soon. I'm having a harder time with this than I thought I would. The tears come waaay too easy! Maybe tomorrow...

Trust me in these economic times it is hard not to go with the Red Carpet but I think we'll make it up on not going out to eat.  I also hope Drew will bring a couple of guys with him who's family cant make it to PIR. So we'll enjoy the extra room.   Have a great weekend!

Did you get a letter today? I hope so!!!

It does help make a Mom feel better to know that our kids are getting our letters every day!!! I've been including a joke and a couple of encouraging bible verses in every couple of letters too. My son is 21 and has been somewhat aimless since high school, so I definitely believe the Navy is going to be very good for him.  Hey, you did sound rather philisophical - and I LOVED it! Great idea with the flags! My birthday is on the 4th of July, so I have quite a collection of patriotic themed decor. In fact, my whole dining room is done in a primitive/country patriotic theme!!! Long may she wave, indeed!!!

I got 2 letters today!  Hubby said he still hates it but his letters are seeming more up beat.  He is excited to see us at his graduation and said that he hopes that his group still graduates on time??? Has anyone else in DIV 221 heard anything bout things possibly being delayed?  I write him daily, but I was excited that I actually had something to write about this time.  I haven't booked the hotel yet, but will probably do that soon.  He keeps making a lot of promises to me in his letters, but I'm not sure how genuine they are-or if he's just missing me.  Not really worried about it, but I'll be interested to see what REALLY happens when things get back to normal.

RTC states in their Family Guide that Divisions as a whole do jot get held back.in training (we here this reported often and it is a "motivational threat"...have never heard of it happening to a whole division yet.) Being delayed in training usually only happens on an individual basis. Even if two or more were "involved" in something together...that would still be based on the individuals.
If a recruit has a delay in training.they are granted a call home to let family know.

I got a letter today!!! He says that things are getting easier as the Division learns to work together. They got calendars and says it's great to cross off a day each night at taps. He passed his first personal inspection and has a bit of contact with divisions ahead of 221 to learn what is going on. He took on heavy watch shifts to help the division so he can't write much at nights. mrzscott, my son didn't say anything about any possible delays. Hopefully that's a good sign! Your hubby must be missing you all like crazy! It must be so hard to be away from his children. You stay strong too, and I hope that all of his promises come true!!! navyknit22, I think my son also realized that he needed the structure that the military would provide and teach him. Our babies are growing up!!!

They got paid!  I printed the ATM balance report and mailing it today,  Still giddy over the phone call and 'giddy' is not a word I use often.  Go Navy!

Woo Hoooo!!! That should make Drew happy!!! I think will make Garrett happy too. He was plotting since before boot camp what he would first spend his money on when he gets the chance!!!

You guys may want to check out this facebook group. There are some moms already there from this PIR looking for others and you could chat there and also invite them to your PIR group :-) It is a closed group but you can request to be added by clicking on the link below. :-) We have a great mix of people who are new to boot camp, some who have just hard PIR or are about to and some who are experienced and can answer questions. Please come join us. Just remember to keep coming back to this Groups main page here and DIV Discussion as well to post all you news and meet others who join. https://www.facebook.com/groups/327167160695549/

Thanks Lala! I am enjoying the facebook group also. We're hoping to get a letter today. Personally, I was doing a bit better after my phone call last thursday, but have been feeling really down. On the bright side, I'm not tearing up as often as I had been!  I just can't wait for July 20th to get here!!! I hope and pray that everyone is doing well and that our SRs are all doing well too!!! Hang in there ladies!!!

Hi. I got a letter from my son which was dated June 17th.  He sounded great and he LOVES the food (what does that say about my cooking?).  anyway, seems to feel he was meant to be there.  He said they were getting up at 4:40 and going to sleep at 10pm - showers with 80 other guys.  looking forward to hearing more from him soon.
