Hey everyone!!! Just got my form letter today from my honey, so excited!! Looks like he is in Ship 9 Div 132 so was wondering whose loved ones are in this division!!

I just got a call from my son! 15 minutes!!! How wonderful - we put him on speaker phone and his 3 siblings and I all got to talk to him. he sounds good - said DIV 132 is a really good group and that the RDCs say that "their gears are turning in the right direction and that they are seeing good things from them". That they are great marchers and they ranked a 4.1 (out of 5) on the academic test (which was one of the highest divisions). I asked him when he leaves for A school in Pensacola and he said that Sat after grad  - bummer.

Well, it was awesome to hear his voice - he also said boot camp wasn't as bad as he thought. I hope you all get your calls!

YES!! I got a call from my husband just now as well...17 mins here...sounded really good, and I agree, it sounds like their division is doing AWESOME!!  He said the academic test went really well, and the PT is going awesome for him...he said this was the best time there he has had so far, to talk to me, and I said this was the best I have felt since he left!!! I cried a bit because I miss him so much!!  Said he didn't know when the next phone call would be, but to expect lots of letters!!! Yay!!

That is wonderful! Our son is in the same division, and we are still waiting on our first phone call. In his first letter he talked about how much getting letters meant to all of them.

Where is your husband from?

Awww!! That's awesome!!! In every letter I get (got another one today!), Max says the best part of his day is getting letters from me!! He said SEND ME LETTERS!!  I think they all love the letters so much!

Maybe your son was on watch while the others were making calls?  I have heard that sometimes this happens, and sometimes the RDC lets them "make up" the calls, and sometimes not?  Just what I have heard, feel free to jump in anyone if this is incorrect....

We are from Oregon, where are you from?

We are from central Texas. Don't know if we can say the exact city? I did get the second hand written letter today! The first one came last Thursday. I wonder if they get mail everyday? He said in his letter today that they can write at night now if they want, but evidently they have to give up some sleep to do it!

I hope you are right and he will get a makeup call!

Hello Sandy and Mary, my SR is on the same ship but in Div 137. I have already received three letters and a phone call from him on last Friday around 4 if not after. I was too excited!!! The phone called lasted for about 15-20 minutes. **If you are waiting on a phone call, my advice to you is....(never let your phone out of your sight and make sure that the volume is up so you can hear the call.)

**(847) was the area code of the number**

I pray that this helps someone who has not heard from their Recruit yet. Nevertheless, if you don't receive a call continue to write your SR and encourage him or her to keep pushing forward.

Great that you have gotten three letters! We have gotten two, and they both arrived on Thursday, so we are hoping for another installment today. He finally made a 10 minute call to his girlfriend at close to midnight on Saturday, and told her the next call would be to us. Of course, we have no idea when!! I was glad he finally got to call one of us - was getting worried  that others in his division had called already. He told us he is "Master at arms of ship staff" and missing a lot of sleep due to whatever the extra duties this entails.

Does anyone know - it is the next and final call the one when they get to call at the end and say they are a sailor?

Great advice humblek2124 about keeping your phone close!

Our son's good friend was in one of the divisions that graduated last Friday 3/11, and he called us after graduation and told us to tell our son when we wrote him that by the three week period, the worst was over and hang in there, because it DOES get better!

Hey ladies!!  Just wanted to ask if anyone has made reservations yet and where you are staying at, what airline, etc...I know some have already posted, but just wanted to put it out there!!  I am staying at the Ramada, and flying with Southwest into the Midway airport.  I also got a rental...what does everyone else's travel plans look like?

I posted some in parts in different places, so I will just add it all here:

We are flying into Chicago O'Hare on 4/14 via Continental from Houston. Got a rental from Enterprise, and reservations at the Red Carpet Inn, which is supposed to be about a mile from base. Four of us coming, and more family wanted to come.

Our SR said he flys out early  Saturday morning to Nuke school, so we are coming home Saturday evening.

We got our third letter in the mail today! So far they have all arrived on Thursday, and we are in Central Texas. He told me in the letter that they get mail every day Monday through Friday, but I am wondering if their mail goes out on certain days. He has been dating his letters, and they haven't all been written on Sunday. I know others posted about getting mail yesterday.

I laughed when he wrote that letters are like "gold" because they are here, too!

He did say he was on watch when others in Div 132 were making calls. So...if you are still waiting a call - hang on!

Sandy, we are from north Texas. Have received 2 real letters last one dated 03/05. Have you heard how the div is doing.
My son wrote that their division is doing really well, and that their RDCs told them they are one of the top ones there. Someone else wrote that their husband, also in this division, said the same thing, and that they even won a flag last week for their performance. Yay!!!
