OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Received a letter from my SR today...dated Sunday 9.25.11, He said they had their first couple of inspections which are going well. He said they do 8 counts, jumping jacks, sit ups everyday. He said he is starting to get into shape. They had an academic test, he did not say what over, but thought everyone in the divison did good. He was a little homesick and was looking forward to talking to us. So glad that we got to talk on Tuesday, makes me feel better about his homesick statement. He is so ready to read a book, OK one of the books he likes to read. (he loves to read). That was about it. We did get calls from other family that he wrote them too, so I will have to see if they e-mail me with details. Hope everyone is receiveing letters. Share if you feel comfortable to do so and most of all wishing everyone great news from their SR! Blessings 9/360....28 more days!!!

My son said something about 8 counts also, was does 8 counts mean? Thanks for sharing AJM, my son sounded in pretty good spirits....said he was getting used to it.

spontino...he did not really say. Anyone else heard about 8 counts from their SR? I was thinking it was just a combo type of exercise, but I have to say I really don't know. Glad your SR is in good spirits. Continue to pray for health, strength and clarity of mind for all our SRs!!

My son said the regular PT was pretty easy; he's had trouble with blisters so that's been more of an issue than anything else. He loves to read, also; that's what he did all summer. He would read a chapter and do 50 pushups before he would read the next one. He did say the RDCs are tough but really are doing a good job training them. It sounds like a great division. He said he's past the homesickness, but he does miss home.
My daughter is a dancer and everything they do is in an 8 count; maybe it's marching? Mine didn't mention that. He just said they do a lot of pushups, particularly when they mess up on something. I guess it's good he did so many at home.

My son said today that their division got a flag...it was hard to hear him but I think he said it was because everyone passed their scholastic (?) test....any way he sounded like their division was doing well, said it was week 3 day 3...

Spontino...glad you finally got your call! I have heard the division is doing well, also. My SR seems much happier now than he did in the first letter. And he was REALLY excited about boot camp. I'm glad the guys are all doing so well; hard to believe that we are less than 4 weeks away!

yes i got a call today too ladies!! first off he said they were in a push division meaning they had to move through things faster. second he said 8 counts were an exercise where they started upright, dropped to push up position, went to the down position, back up, spread legs, then back to upright position (all of this is down in 8 counts...body building workout) and he says they do it ALOT. he seemed really good. i got all weepy, i know shame shame but they were happy to hear from him tears. he found out he is now airman undesignated due to a medical disqualifier from his previous job and will now be station within the next 3 months or so...throws a wrench in all of our plans. still hoping for the best. God has a plan and although he seemed slightly uneasy about it i'm determined to send positive thoughts his way. other than that he said everything was really going well and he seemed happy and older?

Glad you heard from your SR! Sorry to head about the disqualifier; hard to believe that they didn't catch that at MEPS when he was there. But I'm sure he will find something even better than what he had. It sounds like they are really doing well as a division despite having to move faster. I'm so proud of them all!

I agree Johnnasuzanne, my son sound older also...it's amazing how they can change them in just a few weeks!! He also sounded very calm, I was expecting the opposite. Such a relief to finally talk to him.

Johnnasuzanne... My SR sounded older too. I am sure even though your SR had to change his original plan that he will enjoy the new one just as much!
