OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Ladies....check your mailboxes...3 more letters today! He said this week wasn't such a great week. They had two inspections and one test. He said with him being a section leader if anyone fails then he fails. If one of them fail, then they all get "beat". He said one good thing is that bootcamp is starting to go by fast now. He really misses us and he went to Church and he got me a medal of St Nicholas. Bless his heart, he's always been such a thoughtful kid. He said he's not sure if his friends parents will be able to make graduation so he asked if he could come out to dinner with us. Its funny how I just wrote him a letter asking him if any of his friends didn't have family coming that they were more than welcomed to come and celebrate with us. He's also looking forward to when he goes to Chicago airport, he can't wait to get McDonalds!! I really love and miss him so much!! 28 DAYS!!!

I can't wait to get home today....Thursday is my latest day getting home and it's the day THE mail arrives. What a good idea about taking a sailor to dinner! In one of my son's earlier letters, I enclosed a card for someone who didn't get mail, but I don't know if my son passed it along to anyone. That'll give me something to ask him tomorrow. Somedays I feel like when he reads my letters, he's thinking, "wa-wah, wa-wah, wa-wah!" (My impression of the teacher in the Peanuts cartoons. It was a joke between us when I could tell he was tuning me out!) I remember one of our support moms saying even if we send a grocery list, they're just glad to get mail from home!
I hate your son is getting "beaten" for those in his section's mistakes, but what a good lesson in leadership. That's how our leaders should be and the good ones I've encountered over the years are - taking full responsibility when something goes wrong. I think it speaks volumes of your son that they saw the leadership potential in him. Have a great evening. YES 28 DAYS!!!

Good evening, Ladies. Enjoyed our letter from our SR today. Gave us a little more detail this time, but still sounds super. Except for Monday night's phone call, all communication from him has been very encouraging. Says they're down to 73 SRs from 86. I think they lost a couple more Mon or Tues. Cathy, I'll have to ask who his leader is - just in case. Sleep well as we wait for 6/17! : )

I too received another letter from my son. Basically the same thing in the letter that we talked about Monday. He is head of the "head" department and doesn't really like getting up at 5 AM every morning to go to early chow, but he is surviving. We won't be able to go to graduation because of our other son graduation from HS the night before, but bought tickets for my mom and step father to be there in GL. Unfortunately, they have to fly out on Sunday from Milwaukee and my son is staying in GL--hopefully he will be able to team up with somebody who is also staying there and go out for the day. We have had a difficult relationship the past couple of years with him being disrespectful ,etc., he has apologized about that in letters and can't wait to see the change the Navy is bringing about in him.

Mommabee! So glad to hear from you! I was afraid your son might have been one of the casualties and,after all you had done to bring us all together, I just hated that. I know it's a reality of boot camp, but..... we "knew" you! Funny you mention the "head", my nephew who is close to 40 told me son before he left that it wasn't bad duty - no pun intended. I've been thinking of you and not being able to go to PIR b/c of your other son's HS graduation. Sometimes the schedules of life just stink, don't they?! But what a joyous time in your life with 2 sons making great accomplishments. So glad you've seen the maturity in your son. Speaking for our family, sometimes you've done all you can as parents and there are things they have to learn from someone else. They reach an age where their ears just aren't as open to us. Bless you at this exciting time if your life!

Can't wait to get to my mail box when I get in from out of town. Seems like the letters always come in on Thursday and I don't get home till late Friday night. Because I missed his call Monday, I have written him everyday. He sounded so sad on the vm that I want to brighten his day every day. Will let you ladies know if I find out anything new because he writes about every little thing.

Thanks Cathy! I am thinking that RTC is the little hold up with the mail and not the Postal Service. But whenever they get here, it makes for one awesome day. Your SR is a great looking guy! I guess if they are losing some from 205, that is making the rest of them even closer. I graduated from flight attendant classes 11 yrs. ago and still feel close to my classmates because of the things we went through together. Can't wait to hear some real good stories when we can actually talk to them. I hope these guys stay in touch...but then again they are guys :)

Down from 73 ! that is something...that means those remaining will be the best of the best! My son's dad got a couple letters. My son said the food isn't bad and there is something different everyday. He asks for pictures a lot. Overall sounds like adjustment is setting in.

I came home to two letters today!!! It just takes so doggone long for them to get here. One was from 5/11 and the other from 5/15. Hope he gets mine faster. My SR is doing well. He was doing sprints on the outdoor track and a guy from the 206 and my SRs own P.O. challenged him to a race. He blew past everyone and won. Not sure if it is a good idea to beat your P.O. but he got a kick out of it (being the old guy in the Div.)
Cathy, guess your SR & mine are buddies. He mentioned him in his letter because I had asked him who he kinda hangs out with. He said your SR was "in the top rack next to him" and "is cool as shit" (sorry) and he plays soccer too & likes the Euro soccer teams.
My SR said he got in trouble today when he led his first detail cause he forgot to log what time they left the barracks & what time they left the clothing dept. (They got fitted for their white sailor uniforms). His punishment was 120 jumping jacks, a bunch of Mtn. climbers (?) 40 eight-counts, 50 sit-ups and then after chow go to Div 206 (their brother div) and stay in the up push-up position for 15 min. Guess he won't forget again.
His letter cracked me up cause he draws a little caricuture of himself at the end with his signature but today it had no hair. The next letter had the drawing with little sprouts of hair.
