Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 087 and 088

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Hello! I'm not a mom, I'm a girlfriend, but I had to join this group of course :) Anybody get any letters this week? Nothing from my Sailor, and I usually have one by Thursday or Friday :( His parent's didn't get anything either so it got me wondering if any of you got anything either!

Haven't heard from my SR for over 2 weeks.  They are probably so busy preparing for tests/inspections, and mentally "drained," that they need the downtime to concentrate on finishing basic.  I know when my brother was in basic in the Air Force a very long time ago, my Mom contacted the Red Cross to find out if he was OK, when she didn't hear anything; and his girlfriend (now wife) was frantic.  LOL!  He reminded me of this, before my son left; and told me he will be "fine."  :) So, I've been trying to concentrate on that phone call we will get before PIR...when they tell us "I'm a SAILOR," and clinging to every word all the other Moms/girlfriends share.    Hang in there!  I'm writing almost every day; and I'm sure my son will have to start tossing some of my cards/notes to make room.  LOL!  But, I'm sure those words of encouragement and love are helping them get through the day!

I am relieved to hear that other loved ones from my son's division are not hearing from their recruit either. It has been over 2 weeks since I have heard from mine as well. I, too, was feeling frantic as he has written or called at every opportunity in the past. I wonder if some members of the division have had that privilege taken away? Do they do that?

I think they do. I'm wondering if the whole division had their privileges taken away. I know that like other divisions, they can't make phone calls until the "I'm a sailor" call. But I'm unsure about the letters. This is the first week I haven't received a letter.

My son is also 09 087. Talked with him week ago last Friday. He did say it would be 2 wks between calls and he is not much for writing. Is your son heading to SD for school? Have you heard how long they will have with family to visit?

I'm not expecting any more calls until "I am a sailor" call also.

My boyfriend is in the same division. The last call that he made was three weeks ago, it was on a Saturday and was only three minutes long. He called his parents. He didn't say anything about not being able to call until the Sailor call, but I'm assuming that's what it is going to be since he hasn't called in so long.

However, I didn't get any letters last week and I normally get them on Thursday or Friday. His parents didn't get any letters either, it left us all really upset. I've been wondering if anyone else got letters? but it doesn't seem like anyone from this division did. Hoping we get some this week. Although they will be delayed due to the holiday.

My son is 09/088.  No letters either...

I have been off the computer for several days and logged back on tonight.  So many new comments from everyone.  It is getting close now.  All our plans have been made and we have been shopping to buy some warm clothes.  We are from Florida and it has been 30 years since my hubby has even seen snow!

Sailormom - My son will be headed to Pensacola for A school too.  I've read somewhere that they will fly out of O'Hare; but, still waiting on info from my son.  Have you heard anything from your son?  Still no phone call/letters (over 2 weeks now).

Sailormom - I know what you mean!  If you find out before me...let me know; and I'll do the same!   Hope all of our guys are working as a team; and they all successfully complete Battle Station!  Looks like we won't hear anything until then (unless they do something outstanding, and get special privileges!....wouldn't that be great!  :)

Sailormom - Yes, same thing here about teamwork, when we first talked.  But, from all I've been reading...everything comes together by now!  :)  Can't wait either!  I'm getting so excited!  My brother and I are going to graduation, and to Sarge's Meet and Greet.  We're coming from AL.  My son told me the snow was taller than him in some places; and he would have loved to get out it it (that was over 2 weeks ago).  LOL!   He's 6 ft.  As you know, we don't see that kind of weather in AL and FL...so, it's probably been a big adjustment for our sons! :)
