~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thought y'all would appreciate hearing that my son, and 5 other sailors new to the Nuke school went out to eat in Charleston at a restaurant called T Bones Friday night where their check was paid for by "some rich, navy veteran couple".  nice to know our sailors are being looked after.

@diannep I hope you still get this message. I have 2 Sailors now and things were the same except this time we ran into one problem. My son had added 4 family members on the letter as I had instructed him to. Well as it goes my older Sailor wasn't given permission to attend so we swapped him out with a friend of ours. I wrote to my son 4 weeks before PIR. My son confirmed this info with me. He requested the change and to my surprise his name wasn't on the list. Another family staying in the same hotel as us had the same issue. Thankfully they let our friend in with proper ID. But I can't imagine what could of happened had they not let him in. Another thing is we were recommended to eat at Trattoria Restaurant in Libertyville. Sailors eat free. But please let people know since the restaurant employees failed to communicate this to us Sailors only get free pasta. Not everything on the menu. Thank you all for the great support. And catmom509 thank you for the Bible scriptures. They helped me day by day to get through this. Bravo Zulu to all moms!

KJTsMomma,

Thanks for the details and for helping A'sMom and Sarge out!!  So very appreciated~~  Wonder if the bulk of those who didn't RSVP were from Facebook and not here?  Not sure how the Facebook PIR groups work.  Sorry about that for you, your family, and the others from here.  Will be sure to pass on how imperative RSVPing is!

Thanks, ladies, for the feedback!

Leaving this group now....blessings to your new sailors in their Navy futures!

I thought this group was a life saver! The hardest thing for me was the lack of communication and getting bits and pieces from other SR's helped so much. When a couple weeks went by and there was no word, the advisors in this group would explain and encourage and say that no news was good news and that things would soon get better. And they were right!

CatMom509 - The Basket Fundraiser was a succes - at least in my opinion.  We raised $920 for the next Meet & Greets.  I'm not sure what other Basket Fundraisers have brought in for Sarge in the past, but I thought that was pretty good.  I helped A's Mom out due to a flight delay (pick up) which delayed her getting to the Meet & Greet until a little later.  I hope with that and the donation box Sarge will have $$ for the next and maybe part of the next.  My only complaint is so many people showed up who had not RSVP'd to Sarge.  Food ran out before everyone had a chance to go thru the line.  (my family included in that)  My younger son was OK with White Castle since there our none in our area.  So for future groups - Please RSVP!  I think Sarge said about 100 RSVP'd and there was probably 250 - 300 people there.  Great turn out, but not fair to those who had RSVP'd and didn't get to eat.  :)
