Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I just got my letter! FYI - My son reported to GL late on Tuesday 3/6. I live in the Chicago area. His box came within 36 hours and the letter arrived today!

My SR was able to call his family, and I was there too. We only had 5 minutes, but he sounded great, very happy. He said that everythng is starting to get easier. He's the mail P.O and he mentioed that he LOVED to see the other boys' faces light up when they get a letter. He said he did really well on a recent test they took, so that was good because he was stressing about it in his last letter.

I got my phone call this evening and it was so great to hear my SR's voice. He told me he mailed me a really long letter yesterday and so that should be coming soon. He said bc is hard but it is getting better and that he can't wait for April 27th. He said things are going really well for him. I really needed this phone call. Each day was getting harder and harder for me and the tears were threatening to start again. Hope everyone had a great phone call from their SRs.

I will send out some envelopes this week so recruits can send mail back home. I will have to go to the store to buy some first by that is an excellent idea and I would be happy to send a bunch to my son to hand out to other SRs.
Note to atimeforart. I didn't see your message before I talked to my son otherwise I would have asked him about your son for you. Hopefully you have heard from him this evening or will soon.

How many stamps do you think each manila envelope will require to send a batch of letters?
If I am not mistaking, I think it might be easier to send the prepaid priority mail envelopes and they can reach up to 4 lbs. I will label the outside of the manila envelope with "EMPTY ENVELOPES INSIDE" for the RDCs to notice. I will dig more into what is best and report back!!

No phone call for me yesterday :( I am hoping I get a letter this week. I was sooo looking forward to talking to him. I am out of town at a funeral and kept my ohone in vibrate in my hand the whole day.

thanks, i'm just so worried that he's not ok, or he got in trouble. I know we would have heard if he got sent back or was injured, but he had calling cards so he should have called. He wouldn't be one of the ones that caused trouble, he's very quiet and keeps his mouth shut, gets along with everybody.....He would have been one of the ones who got an obscene amount of mail, and possible showed it to others because I put a cartoon and photo joke in every letter....He's a very fast runner, would probably be leading the pack in the running category..but he has a hurt shoulder so will be struggling with the pushups....So if anyone heard their SR describe someone like this please let me know!
