Joanie, thats awesome to know that they earned the call for passing room inspection! Do you mean every recruit in that division earned a call?

My daughter is on this ship and has a PIR of 8/17/12, can't wait to see her!! Son or daughter for you?

Sorry about not replying, i'm learning this site and I dont see any notifications? It's my daughter, her name is Holly.  Not sure if we are suppose to put names on here.. so if not, sorry.

I think first names are ok, my daughters name is Alyssa. Mine is 18, just graduated, she's the "young"
one in my profile picture. She's my only child so wow this has been a huge adjustment. How about you?

Hello All,

I hope by now you all have received your form letter and have made your travel plans.  The past 2 weeks has been very hard for me as I am sure for you too. As the saying goes, no news is good news.   I expect to get the 3wk call on Monday (July 9, 2012). I cannot tell you how much I need to hear my daughters voice.

everyone please keep coming to this page. There are moms and other members who don't "do" facebook and they will be looking for support here. Some of them are here just reading posts who are too shy to post anything their selves so they rely on what they read here to get them through this experience. If you want some great facebook groups here are the ones I have seen the most activity on. Also remember some group are closed and some are not. You should never post any private info or ship movement, Sailor travel details on any page or group no matter if it is private, closed or open. Always be safe and keep your Sailor safe.

Sounds like a great letter!  Very positive, makes it easier I think.

Our kids should now be entering 3week training.  The link below provides a detail of what is expect during week 3.

http://usmilitary.about.com/od/navyjoin/l/aanavybasic4.htm

Week 3. During the third week, there's less classroom learning, and more on-hands learning. Your classroom work will consist of training about Naval history, laws of armed conflict, money management, shipboard communications, navy ships and aircraft, and basic seamanship. You'll recap these with your second written test.

After that, put on your gloves, and dust off your knot-making techniques, as you'll get to practice basic line-handling skills (after all, we can't have new recruits tying a slip-knot and allowing that aircraft carrier to drift away from the dock. This would upset the Captain, and would undoubtedly irritate your chief). You'll also get direct experience and practice in first aid techniques. Of course, during week three, the yelling, drill, and physical training will continue.

Got a letter from  my daughter day before yesterday!  It was awesome!  Though she admits to being very homesick she said things are going well.  Says she has gotten used to the workouts and being yelled at all the time, it's being away from us that makes it so tough.  She said she really likes attending church.  Says it's very comforting!  Now I just wait for the next phone call since I missed the last one!  Cannot wait until graduation!

My son is ship 11 div 249. We got a phone call about 25 min Then he was called for watch. He admits to being homesick but really cheered up when I told him we where definitly coming for PIR and spending the weekend to hopely get to see him every possible moment of Liberty. He had trouble get us on the phone. But finally connected. His sister said he sounded like he'd been crying When he asked her the phone number to reach us.He couldn't get my cell phone to go through.

OMG, I got a call today.. Our kids are doing great!  We should also get another call on Thursday.  Please stay close to those phones... The teams are coming together great.  Thank god.  Keep praying for our kids..

Got a call yesterday!  My SR says her div has been having issues with team work and such so they had not been earning phone calls.  She passed her swim test and PI test and she hasn't taken any hits yet.  She sounded very well and satisfied.  That helps so much when you know they aren't sad and miserable!  It lightened my heart alot.  She said and I quote" it's tough and very hard, but just because something is hard doesn't mean you give up". She has a wonderful attitude and I'm so proud of her.  Ship 11 div 250
