For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Welcome to the discussion group for divisions 029 & 030
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Thanks...and not that I doubt you at all, but how do you know for sure? He is not staying in GL for A school, but not sure when he flies out. What do you mean by TSC? Also I heard that they can only go so many miles from "ship" is that true do you know?

ellen's Sailor attends TSC GL. :-) TSC is Training Support Center GL.
They can go 50 miles from the area. See the FamilyGuide.pdf
This is an excerpt from the Graduation Schedule for PIR day on the RTC Website:
7:00-9:00 p.m. or as dictated by Chain of Command Liberty expires. Please note: Recruits must walk back to their designated ships, so allow the recruit ample amount of time to reach their destination.

They used to have overnight Liberty several years ago, but did away with it.
Things change all the time though. We try to ask the PIR groups for any new information so that we can advise of any changes. If we do have any we post it on the Main Wall of the PIR GROUP and/or in the Discussion Forum area of the group.

Thanks....I am more confused than ever. Because I had read that they didn't get it, then my DIL told me yes they do, then the recruiter said no, then I was talking to my son today and he said he does get it, but I'm not sure if he understood I was asking about overnight liberty or not and our conversation was short.

YooHoo! Just had a 30 minute phone call with my son! He's doing well and looking forward to PIR. He said that some of the form letters were messed up and were resent later, so I should be receiving it soon. He also has received my letters, but was only able to send out one. Sounds like things are going well. 30 days to go!

Glad for you....my calls consisted of 30 seconds and 1 minute today....GF got a little longer, but not 30 minutes...why do you suppose there is such a difference?

Sorry to hear that. If it helps at all my SR cut our call short so he could call his GF. But I must admit it was wonderful just to hear his voice.

Mine had a cold too, but this is normal for bc, we used to call it "recruit crud".

He called. I should have been on the road home but was held up at work and he called! He sounded great. Passed all his tests, no wisdom teeth removal required and enjoyed his float test. He is my fish. Lived at the river all summer every summer. Ship 12 Div 030. He mentioned week 5 day 2? This must be a count down of days in BC. Anyway very happy to hear from him. Now I don't have to carry my phone around like a child with a blanket.. well for awhile. ;)
