Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 397 and 398

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Thanks Copious, I didn't know there was a fb group. Also thanks for the information.

I want you all to know that almost every division goes through the "not doing well" phase, it is not uncommon at some point, and it is not unusual! Those SRs who really aren't "getting it" are being weeded out or have been weeded out.

Recruits are given three phone calls during BC, any calls above that are earned. Yes, any earned phone call can be taken away at the drop of a hat, for even the smallest of reasons. Even if your recruit earns a call, your SR can have it taken away because another recruit didn't fold a t-shirt correctly on the last inspection. This does not mean that recruit who folded his shirt wrong is bad or screwing up, mistakes happen. Do not think that since your recruit hasn't called they are not doing well!!

I am also sure that there are more than 20 recruits in these two divisions who are doing well out of approx 196 recruits. To some SRs it may appear that way, but I can guarantee that is not the case. All of those recruits who are still in training and haven't been sent home by now are recruits that the RDCs are confident will make good SAILORS. There may still be a few that are having difficulty, but most if not all who are still there at this point will "get it",

thank u ellen0502 for yr informative insite & encouragement, it makes me feel abit more relaxed & confident that my SR cud actually b doin pretty gd despite it all.

Thank you for validating what I have heard from my own SR!  He is in High Spirits...living the dream and lovn' it!

Go Navy!

You're welcome. :) They have just come out of "Hell Week", and though it isn't as bad as it sounds, it is a week of daily (or more) inspections, testing on the things they have learned, marching, folding clothes, firearms etc. The other divisions RDCs do the inspections, and they want their division to be the best, so your SRs are closely scrutinized for even the smallest infraction.

Those RDCs like to make your SRs division look worse than their own, you could call it a competition between the RDCs, and the more "hits" your SRs get the better theirs look. :) Your SRs RDCs then give extra IT, more yelling, more "make it perfect" and do it again. This is the way they make them into SAILORS!!

Navy Strong!!

diannep thank you so much 4 yr suggestions.  I'm thinkin a challenge coin wud b a great choice w/a print out of its origins.  I noticed that MWR will b having booths in the drill hall @ PIR & thinking they may even have some inexpensive memorablia - I wud love 2 get a US Navy sports cushion.

MY SR's g/f rec'd a ltr w/a ps on the outside of envelope stating Hell Week started 9/25 & PIR 10/18 so suppose so far its lookin pretty gd :)

Have a great wkend.  I will b checking forecast b4 comin 2 PIR 2 help me decide what 2 wear.

Has anyone heard from their SR? What week we're on etc I'm getting a tad antsy.

Amani best that I kno Ship 12 Div 397 will b goin in2 5th wk - firefighting & gas chamber.  Unfortunately from most of the posts i've been reading seems things aren't goin as gd as they shud u kno -  xtra ITE & loss of phone privileges :(   My SR's g/f rec'd a ltr dtd 9/22 unfortunately 4 us he doesn't talk 2 much about what's goin on jus that 9/25 was hell week & 10/18 PIR.  I'm gettin abit anxious -  I have made reservations 4 a hotel stay & anticipating on renting a car 4 the rd trip.  R u goin 2 Sarge's meet & greet Thurs nite, 10/17?

Has anyone heard anything from our division? My son writes but gives very little information on how things are going.

My son just called Div. 397 ship 12. Wished me a Happy Birthday. He's doing great, even earned a flag. Sounded really good!

My son called yesterday. He said their division is coming together and doing good. He didn't elaborate much because I only talked to him a few minutes and relinquished the phone to his gf. She had missed his call but we just so happened to be together so.... He sounded upbeat though.

Thank you so much.  I am excited as the day comes closer.  I comb these pages and collected a wealth of information and saved it to a Word document for reference.

Corey's little brother (7 - non-verbal-autistic) did or does not understand why brother is gone. For so many reasons, 10/18/13 is going to be a most special day for so many people!
