Check within your PIR group, PIR 07/27/2012 TG 37 — 6 Divisions (227–230, 817 & 937).  Know that there are lots of recruits at the RTC, so the chances of someone calling on a holiday are low.  Keep your phone on you at all times between 8ish am and 8ish pm.  You could get a call in about week 3 or 4, but don't count on it.  The only guaranteed call is the "I'm a Sailor!" call that happens on a weekday (M-F) 1 to 7 days prior to PIR.  Remember that "No news is good news."  If something happens that could delay PIR or send himm home, you will be called and that is not a call you want to get.  The recruits can't write until the first Sunday after their division forms, which could be the second or third Sunday they are at the RTC.  Mail day for me in the midwest was on Wednesday, but it was occasionally on Thursday.  They can only write on Sundays at first, but later may earn to be able to write on another day or two as well.

Hi!  Hopefully, you've heard from your son by now.  Coincidentally, we have a son, Scott (well, actually William Scott, but we've always called him Scott) in your son's same Div.!  We just got a letter from our son last Thurs.  He wrote that letter on Sunday (Father's Day).  Needless to say, we were relieved to hear from him!  He says he's doing well, though it is tough.  We haven't gotten any phone call from him since that first night he arrived at Great Lakes, though.  I see on the Facebook site for his Div. that some moms have received phone calls this week.  We hope to hear from our son again soon.  I guess no news is good news!  Hope everything is fine with your Scott!  Best regards!
