Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 233 and 234

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important

Every single concern is genuine

Every single member is important to us

We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

My son is Div 234 and I did not see him in the photos. Glad you received a letter!!!

My son is also in Div 234 and I have been searching desperately for photos of him and I have not been able to find him.  He wears glasses and I thought it would be easier but a lot of them wear glasses and they're all black frames.  Have you been receiving letters and phone calls?

Hi Jackie T,

I receive a letter from my recruit on Wednesdays (he writes us on Sunday evenings), other people receive their letters on Thurs or Fridays depending on where you live. I'm 90 miles south of the base so I get my letters within 2 days. He called me Saturday, June 13th and we talked for about 15-20 mins. Unfortunately, I haven't received any calls since then. I have been searching the photos. Sometimes 2 and 3 times each, looking for my boy and as of yet, I haven't seen Div. 234. I hope we get at least 1 photo before graduation. I really was hoping to see a pic. of him doing what they do while there. Something to add to the scrapbook.

Hang in there....19 more days til PIR.

I did get to talk to my son last Saturday for quite a while, it was wonderful!  I have been getting letters too.  He was really struggling at the beginning about even staying in, it's been a rough month.  He did say this past week was "hell week" which I'm not sure exactly what was considered "hell" and he didn't elaborate.  He did say he probably wouldn't get to call back until the week before PIR.  I know we are all hanging in there and can't wait for PIR and the chance to be with our kids!!  Are you going to be at the meet & greet on Thursday evening?

We haven't decided yet. We'll probably drive up Thursday either before rush hour or afterwards. Chicago rush hour is the worst. So, it will depend on our schedule, lol. However, we plan on getting to the base by 6:30a on graduation day. We'd like to get there and get in as soon as they open the gates.

What airport are you flying into?

Flying into O'Hare I think around noon, but have to wait to meet my son's grandfather, I don't think he gets in until around 4:30pm so we will be right in the middle of nightmare traffic.  I am used to it since I live in California and it always takes an hour to go a few miles, lol.  I am hoping to go to the meet & greet even if I have to drop Papa off at the hotel and go by myself.  Yes, we plan on getting there as early as possible.  I've been reading all of the information on here to make sure I'm doing everything in a timely manner since we have limited time with our kids.

Well, if you are from California and are use to driving in traffic, you wont need any of my advice!! lol You already know how bad it can be!! These last 2-3 weeks are gonna feel like the longest since we're all so excited for the 10th to get here...

LOL, I still haven't found out why they call it rush hour since there is no rushing involved whatsoever!!! Any advice I can get is most appreciated.  Luckily you don't have to pay for airfare to get there, that's a plus.  Can't wait to see my son, so excited!!! My work has taken over my life in the past few weeks, it is keeping me really occupied that helps the time go by faster :)

Yes there are a lot of glasses.  My son had them before he left and already had black frames, hard to pick him out of a crowd when they all look so similar.

JackieT my son is also 234 he said they all get issued glasses I believe. I'm actually mailing his contacts this week so he can wear to graduation.

cristinab Not sure why they give everyone glasses, I guess they don't have time to use their contacts.  Hopefully they will put some photos on FB of our kids before they graduate :)  Only a couple more weeks and we'll be able to give them hugs!!  So excited!!

My son also said they are getting a lot of extra group punishments. Not sure if they will be allowed a phone call or not. He said he volunteered for the "Head Crew"---a team in charge of cleaning the bathrooms. Apparently, this will be the last time this division competes for a Hall of Fame banner for this , and they are very intent on winning it! Funny, my son never seemed very interested in cleaning bathrooms BEFORE.... ;)
