Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 027 and 028

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important

Every single concern is genuine

Every single member is important to us

We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Hi--My son is in Ship 14, Div 027 as well ---sorry I would have responded sooner but I have been dealing with some issues the last couple of days. The i'm a sailor call comes when they pass Battle Stations 21. Its a 12 hour test (written and hands on the mock ship) they must pass in order to graduate. It's pretty cool from what I have read. Once they make it, the commander of the base comes in to review, addresses them and hands them their official NAVY ball cap and they remove their Recruit ball cap. For Ship 14, Div 027-028 (they will go through it together) that call should come sometime Thanksgiving week or the beginning to middle of graduation week. They are staggered through each week so they can all end at the same time prior to graduation. I believe that 027 is on a Thursday to Thursday week, based on conversations with our son. The call can come at anytime of the day---they get to call after they complete the testing and the ceremony.

I hope that is of help. Are you going to the meet and greet?

Hi Cameronsmom,

I hope that we will meet at the M&G on 12/03. I think I told you my SR is 014/028. Also Navymomsh014/027. I am so excited to go. In a moment of weaknee after I received the Thanksgiving Adopt Form, I fell apart. So I bought 2 plane tix for my oldest son and I to see him on that day. My son can't come to PIR because of work so this will be great. And very selfishly, I wanted to hug him before the GF. She's been getting the phone calls and I imagine the letters.

I can't wait to meet you as well. That's not being selfish to want to hug him first before the GF.  We moms carried them for 9 months and I think we have first rights to hugs and greetings. I know its hard; its our BC too; after all, we are having to let them soar on their own with little to no contact. He will get his priorities right. GFs may come and go, but its us Moms that always have their backs and are there for them always. Sending you a hug.

Thanks, Cameronsmom.

You made me feel better and brought tears to my eyes.

The hugs are coming right back to you {{{NMH}}}

Also, I have tried to reach out to the GF about her plans for PIR but she is not very forthcoming. She didn't want me to reserve her a ticket on our flight or a room in our hotel.

Like you said, GFs come and go but Mom will always be there!

RTCsmom

I'm so sorry she is being that way. I don't know her or the situation at all, but sounds to me like if she is this way now, if she stays on the scene, she could be problematic in the future. Hopefully she is one that goes??? (no intent to offend) Or  if she stays, hopefully she matures and learns what is right and wrong behavior. Either way, I hope she comes to a different maturity level soon.  Sending hugs.

I know what you mean Flo123.

I still expect him to walk in the door any minute and say, "Hey, what's up, Mom?"

And our dog still sniffs around in his room.

Make sure to send him letters from the dog, complete with pawprints and lick marks!

diannep,

Thanks for reminding me of that! My SR asked for a picture of our Reilly (not the cats, LOL) and I've yet to send it. I'll try to do that today!

What division is your SR? Mine's 014/028.

Just be sure not to put the prints on the outside of the envelope.

I have asked the same question. No reply.

We have already been at war in a way (War on terrorism) since 2001. My guess is that they will go through BC and A school (or whatever schools they need to complete) and then get deployed to their ships. The only thing I could see changing that would be a catastrophic incident that would force it to change. I am going to pose the question to Craig (FB) and see what he says. He seems to be quite helpful. I will post his response (link to) back here. This whole situation with the terrorists is going to get out of control before it gets resolved, I'm afraid.  Praying for all those deployed now and those coming up in the process to getting deployed and hoping for fair winds and calm seas ahead; safety and peace above all else.

I have an answer:  Per NTL:

No they would not be affected.   They would complete bootcamp, A-School etc then go to their Duty Station.  It is possible they could deploy right after arriving at duty station or be flown out to meet their already deployed ship.
