Yes welcome Alicia.. Glad you are on here.

17 wow, I  can't imagine going through that at 17.  Mine is 32 I'm sure he's the oldest :)

Yes, that is probably my daughter.  She turned 18 while at boot camp.

My son went in at 17 and turned 18 while in bootcamp. He said there were three 17 year olds in his division.

Thank you for the welcome messages.  Yes, my daughter mentioned that because she is the youngest all the other SR's are very protective of her.  She is liking it and told me she has made a lot of new friends, and found another Supernatural fan. I am glad that I found this site.  Was kind of feeling alone since no one we know can relate to what and how I feel and/or what my daughter is feeling.  She has talked about joining the military since 7th grade.Thank you all again.

When she came to us again in her senior year of high school and spoke about it, we just thought it was a phase and that she would get over it.  So, we told her to do all the research and prove to us why this was the best choice for her.  She sure did. I am so proud of her, that words cannot describe it.  I miss her like crazy, but I am glad that she is pursuing her dreams.

Are you coming to PIR?  Most of us on the facebook page are going to Sarge's Meet and Greet.  We're making spirit ribbons to wear at the M&G and PIR so we can identify other N4M facebock moms.  Kellie may have to correct me on this, but I think we've decided to use a white flower with the PIR ribbon.  I already made mine so I'm going to have to add the white flower.  It's a red velvet ribbon with her last name on one side and a flag and her divison number on the other with an anchor attached to the middle.  I'm making another for M&G.  It will be white with N4M - Sparkyjo on one side and maybe ship and division numbers on the other.

Yep that's right, it doesn't have to be added to your ribbon but I know some are adding it to it, just some sort of white flower, either homemade, real, fake whatever so that we know who is part of our new family.. I am going to get some fake one at Michaels and just glue a pin on the back. We decided on white so it wouldn't clash with anything and is pretty universal but then again I haven't started looking :)

Oh wow.  I didn't know that there is a ribbon color as well.  I will work on making mine as well.  I would love to go to one of the Meet and Greet meetings. Not sure my husband will want to attend.  But I'm sure he will go with me if I ask him too.

I think the ribbon can be whatever color, mine is blue.  Main thing was the last name and division...

We would love to meet you Aliciajohn

We are also on Facebook - PIR 9/21/12 RTC Great Lakes.  Join us there for more friendship and fun.

We got another letter on Friday. He says he passed his zone inspection (compartment/rack inspection), but got out of his PI (personal inspection) because he was standing watch. They did a live fire with the pistol and shotgun, which he said was fun. He was on his way to getting a sharpshooter ribbon until they made him shoot the pistol with his left hand. Before he went in the Navy, he went to a local gun range several times. There he rented and practiced with the same pistol the Navy uses. But he never practiced with his left hand. He said the next letter we get will be about firefighting and the infamous gas chamber.
