Just got my recruits address and found out he is in Ship 6 DIV 947.  Anyone else have a loved one in this division?

My son has also been ill. He said it was no biggie, but that most of them have had at least a case of the sniffles and cold-like symptoms.
Honnalorra...Do you know which divisions are push divisions. My son is also going to school for corpsman. I guess they will be some of the last to graduate A school at GL. I really thought they may be in Texas at the new facility but I.m glad they are staying put at GL.
twldn - sorry your son has been sick. Glad he is feeling better. Now you have me wondering how tall he is! Do you mind sharing? I did ask my son about teeth. He said he had a couple of fillings, but fortunately no wisdom teeth pulled.

heleng - I will check on the push divisions and see what I can find out. I am sure that my son would have enjoyed Texas, but being 5-6 hours away from Great Lakes, we are really glad he will be close to home. When he called today, he talked about the friends that he has made the last few weeks and that they will be in A school together. He told me to make room - because some of them will be coming home with him when they are able to have leave in a few months. It was my understanding it was some guys that live far away and wouldn't be able to go home on a weekend.
He is 6'6' and very handsome l.o.l. He had his wisdom teeth taken out in a gruesom way in my opinion and would advise anyone not to put this off and let the military provide this service. As I talked with my son he seemes to have gotten over it pretty good but me, I still cringe. Are you able to communicate with your son more often then the call that I got? It is nice of you to post all the info that you do, I went into this thing completely unaware.
Our Division must be a really good looking group! My son is very handsome too...lol. We have had a couple of letters from him, and then the call yesterday. That has really been it for us. He had no idea when he might get to call again. I told him that at the very least, we will get to talk to him after battlestation 21 when they get to call home and say "I'm a Sailor!". That is sometime the last week of camp.

He said he is getting our mail, but he needs MORE! I told him we would ramp it up. I got on the phone and started calling friends and starting a letter writing campaign. If it's mail he wants, it's mail he's gonna get.

As far as info - I just try to find out what I can and pass it along. We are all in this together! Have a great day.
Honnalora...SInce they are not in the same division, I hope they become friends at A school. It seems there are quite a few going to be corpsman. We live in SC so....either location is a trek:( Have a wonderful, blessed day!
I got letters today too. He had put 4 letters in one envelope, thankfully he had dated them. We were able to put them in order and read away. Our letters were pretty good. He is unhappy with the maturity level of some of the people in the division. That was about the most negative thing.

I am praying for your son. It really is going to get better, it has too! I am so glad that you have such a great recruiter, it seems to make all the difference in the world. I know he may be homesick, but how wonderful that he has such a great family, and home - that it makes it worth missing! He is a very blessed young man.

I was thrilled to hear that a lot of them from our division are attending Church and doing a nightly Bible study together before bed. My son said they are praying for all of us! They are stronger than they think they are - they have the strength of the Lord!
My daughter also commented on the maturity level of some of the recruits. She is in charge of the racks in her area and has been getting in some trouble because some of the recruits aren't keeping their racks up to code....
It will get better. Our letter this week was not upbeat either but thankfully, the call home came after he wrote so we know that he was in a better place by that point. My letter last week was full of news about the Bible study, the need to go to church, hoping that all was inspection ready on time so that he could as he REALLY needed to. This week he reported that he was able to go to church in addition to continuing with the Bible study. He also had a few complaints, concerns that he shared but ended with his focus being on staying spiritually strong, graduation, family. Was initially concerned but after re-reading it several times, more focused on covering him, the division, in prayer. And counting down to PIR!

I am continuing to pray for this division specifically as much is expected.

Oh! My sons' best friend, who is also at GL, called today. He arrived Sept 1. Poor thing ... his dad didn't answer so he called my son (in college on Navy scholarship).
So glad for all the great communication! Thanks so much for sharing with all of us what your son is sharing with you. It is very appreciated. This can't be easy, but I am so thankful our boys are understanding what is really important and where their strength comes from. Thanks for being a person of prayer!

I can't wait for PIR!
I got my first phone call on Tuesday. So good to hear her voice. I just wanted to cry.
Does anyone know what is going on with the M&G? Just curious. Heard a lot of different
things talked about. Where exactly is the Ramada at and what time will the M&G take
place? I am staying at the Residence Inn so just wondering where it is from there.
I got a letter today too. Mine sounds pretty good. He had a sick day with a sinus infection last week. Other than that - good! He did mention that today - Wednesday Sept 15th is Week 4, day 1 for them. That's right - Hell Week is officially in full swing. I'll be praying extra this week.
