TryIng to get in touch with others who's sonsJust/daughters shipped out from Indy on July 14th. That is when my son let for the navy. Would like to talk with others. We are doing ok. I have a 10 year old and 7 year old girls who are missing their brother already. Granted we saw him for dinner once or twice a week but if we needed him he was always here to help. We are all thinking like he is off at college and in a couple months we will go visit. Although we do really know he is in the navy. His girlfriend of a year is here with us so we are helping her through this as well. I know it's easier for me since I have my husband and girls than it is for her or even ml my son's father. But we are all pulling together and will share letters we get and so forth. Hope to hear from other moms and families. Take care and God bless all of you and we will be praying for all recruits!

My daughter shipped out on the 14th as well... She is only 17 and is my everything! I have a 9 year old daughter who is missing her terribly! Just keep telling myself September will be here before I know it!
I'm from NJ

we are counting down the days.  my girls are writing their brother their first letter today and adding pictures.  i know he will be very excited

it does get a little easier although i still find myself wanting to call him and ask him a question or text him a questions.  just the other day his sister wanted to text him a picture of us but then realized she couldnt.  we have a count down on our phones that let us know exactly how long we have.  not sure i want it or not but my daughters do and so does his girlfriend....I basically rely on God everyday and know that he is in charge and watching over all of our recruits.

I agree it's insane how much what they are doing fills us with pride but it doesn't make missing them any easier! Everyone keeps saying to me it's such a good thing be happy for her which I am but I miss her so much! I can't wait to get my first letter!!

trust me I am sad and proud and scared all at the same time but I know God is in controll and watching over him for me.  We were told his grad date is 9-11.  we cant wait to see him.  i told my girls to think of it as he is at college except we cant call skpe or text him.  the girls are going to learn letter writing quickly!

We got his information by calling or emailing his recruiter. I've read it all comes in a few letter room has shortly after the package arrives. I'm pretty sure whoever went that time will have same grad date. Waiting for letters to come hopefully Wednesday or Thursday. We were told a lot of letter writing is done on Sundays and we might receive them on Wednesdays or so. I do know they get mail call every night so wrote as often as you can. My daughter meg is writing her brother now.
Our son shipped the 15th. Firstborn, has a 14u sister missing him, and we're all trying to be tough. It's surreal.

my 10 year old is hanging tough and staying strong.  she said she was going to be that way because that is what her bubby told her to do....  gotta love my little girls!

Nikki, I left info on your My Page.

I keep thinking back to the sunday before kaleb shipped out july 12th.  he had asked that we all go to church as a family so we did.  we are big into going to church.  my girls love it.  summer is always hectic though.  how fitting that we did communion that morning.  I hope it is a start for him to start going back to church every sunday.  I know they get that option at training.
