hi...we went my husband myself and my daughter to say goodbye and watch swearing in ceremony at MEPS. so glad we did...We had dinner with him at his hotel and waited with him at USO waiting areas at airport....my son was happy were there. there were three other young men going at the same time but they didn't have family but we talked and laughed.....it's a proud day but also hard saying goodbye be strong ...i cried all the way home. good luck to your son!
My son left out of New Orleans this past Wednesday. My husband, 8 year old daughter, and myself all were there to watch him do his final swear in. We also sat with him at the airport. We had to get a gate pass, my 8 year old included. The others who shipped with him didn't all have their families there, but we definitely wanted to see ours as long as we could!
Your son may have left by now....hugs if this has happened. Our son left for GL one week ago today, March 19. There was only one other family out of 8 recruits there. I am very glad that we went. We did no go to the airport, nor did the other family as things are so "up in the air" that morning. We said our "goodbyes" at the federal building. Hugs to you! This was much harder than I ever thought it was going to be.
