For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Ship out 8/8/2016
I know this is a long way out but my son ships out 8/8/2016. Can someone give me an idea when graduation would be so I can book hotel in advance?

Probably not a way to guarantee a PIR date. Closest guess would be to count 9 Fridays from the date that he leaves. Mine left on a Tuesday and I thought maybe he would be the week before but his was the following Friday. Probably best not to make a reservation until after you receive your letter about 10 days after he arrives. I would encourage you to encourage your son to get physically prepared for boot camp and also make sure that he knows how to swim well. Best of luck.

Thank You. The boy lives at the YMCA. He is a good swimmer but because of the job he has to pass a lot more swimming test. That parts worries me but he has time and really has put 100% into it. So proud!

Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in August. You will meet others with loved ones leaving 08/08/2016 or that week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together.
I left additional info for you on your My Page that will help you.
By counting 9 Fridays, PIR is most likely 10/07/2016, but since he is arriving on a Monday, it could be 09/30/2016 if he is in a Push Division and is placed in a division in the TG from the week before. It is possible for some who arrive on the same date to have PIR a week apart. You will have to wait on The Form Letter to know the PIR date for sure. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what to expect.
