I got a call from my SR on Saturday also and it was the most beautiful sound on Earth hearing my son's voice!! He sounded really good which made me feel better this is the first time I have heard his voice since he left to go to BC. Can't wait to see him at PIR!

I know what you mean. By just hearing their voice and they assure us they are doing ok. PIR can't come soon enough!

I got a 30 min call on Saturday too from my SR   it was awesome to  talk for more than 5 minutes . Every minute  was priceless ..  22 more days  till we have  saliors !!

Hi everyone!  I just joined and got my first call Saturday too...He told me they got in trouble and missed their first chance to call home(I was wondering what took so long)..Shame on them LOL.... I was too happy to cry but it was the best feeling to hear his voice again....

Have you all booked flights and/or hotels yet?  I hear Chicago O'Hare is the closest airport...still trying to decide which hotel I want that won't be too far.  I can't wait for PIR on Nov. 4th!!!  :)

I found the best rates in to O'Hare from the East coast anyway. We have booked a room at the Navy Lodge so we will be very close.  Don't wait too long to book though! Can't wait to attend PIR and see my sailor!!

@tammyemt, Thanks so much! I just did my booking for the Navy Lodge!!! I'm getting excited and can't wait to see my boy!! :)
I have already booked flights and hotel. We are also staying at Navy Lodge. I think they take their final PFA this week. I know my daughter has been worried about the timed run. She has been over by 30-40 sec. Praying that she passes!
Sending out good wishes to all that they all pass!!  Hope to meet some of the other families while we are there and am looking forward to spending time with my son, I just wish that we knew how much time we were going to have with him. He doesn't know when he is flying out yet so we will just have to hope for the best.

@navymom - I don't remember my son saying anything about the running tests.  He did pass the swimming and said he had to pass 1 more written test so I hope that's a good sign!  Best of luck to you and your daughter!

@tammyemt - Thanks for the good wishes. Can't wait to go and meet other families too!  I heard we'd get to spend Friday & Saturday with him, we're flying back on Sunday...

Does anyone know about bringing them some of their clothes?  My son wants me to bring him like 4 of his outfits and shoes(I guess for weekends when they have free time), and his cell phone.

I believe they can have their cell phones and laptops only when they get to the airport. My understanding from what I have read here is that they don't get to wear civilian clothing at A-school until a certain point a couple of weeks into it. That is what was written by a mom with a sailor @ San Antonio A-school so it may vary by where they are heading.  I am so happy to hear that some fellow Ship 11 Div 362 families are also staying at the Navy Lodge. Is anyone else going to the meet and greet at the Ramada Inn on 11/03/11?

For everyone who ordered ribbons to wear to PIR they have all been shipped even the ones that were ordered last night and this morning. You should have them within 2 to 3 days. It is not long at all until time for PIR and I know you are all EXCITED about that :-) If anyone missed out on ordering ribbons and would like to get them please contact me ASAP. I have a very quick turn-around and ship Priority mail so there is still plenty of time to get them to wear to PIR. Just send me a friend request on this site or an email to: uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com    Thanks everyone for making my ribbons a part of your very special event.
