That initial call is super short and scripted - he may not have been allowed to leave a message.
He'll do fine - he'll be super sleep-deprived for the first few days but he'll be fine.
Write him a letter - keep it upbeat and positive. You won't be able to mail it until you get the form letter but you can write in the meantime.
It'll be okay. Being a Navymum isn't always easy but it's rewarding to know we raised our child to love and serve our country.
Instead of being heartbroken - focus on what a great job you did raising him. Know that he's fine (you'll be told if he isn't) and that no news is good news in the Navy.
Hey Leslie,
My son left yesterday to. Hopefully they will become friends. I always get upset in the evenings and mornings. Or someone will ask me how am I doing and then I cry. Lol I also got my call last night and we did write each other notes so when I'm missing him I just read the letter. It still makes me cry thou but that's ok. These ladies are wonderful on here and we will travel this journey together. Hang in there.
Thanks. I've been writing him a letter a day as well. It does help. But I know our boys are still missed. Hang in there and take it one day at a time. :) Hugss!!!
Hi Timsmom,
I liked your comment. And you are right our sons would want us to focus on what he would want for us. I know thou when that box comes I'll be crying. I hope I get the box and letter sooner than later.
And yes they are making us very proud.
Hey Carlsmom,
Mine shipped out on Monday. These ladies are wonderful with their support and knowledge. I have been crying to but today was a little easier. I know it's so hard to get used to them not being here, that's what I'm trying to wrap my head around. Ugh!! I'm so proud of him, but I miss him. They are ok, they tell me in the navy no news is good news. I just have to remember our boys/girls are going thru an adjustment to. One day at a time and hang in there. Hugs!!
