I had to say goodbye to my son yesterday! It was the hardest thing I've ever done. I am so sad that after graduation we only get to see him for that day before he leaves for Pensacola! Coming home to his bedroom with everything here feels so much like death! I can't stop crying!! This is sooo hard!!! How do we get through this?

Mcmom,

sorry I am still trying to navigate this website,  I did send him with a phone card.  I was very emotional the first week.  Better now and waiting on the first real letter and a phone call hopefully this weekend?  I am assuming no news is good news but would just like to hear that he is doing well.  rate?  not sure what that means?

She probably meant "rating" (job or occupational specialty) rather than "rate" (pay grade; the same as rank for other branches). Those two words are often confused.

See Phone Cards and Phone Calls and Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit.

How are you feeling today? I feel more at ease after the I'm here call, yesterday. Now to keep busy until the next call. Have a great day! :)
Don't you just feel like your heart was just ripped from your chest? I was doing okay until my friend just stopped by with flowers for me and asked how I was feeling :( I just did the last of his laundry...I cried folding it. I hope this gets easier! Did you send him with a phone card? Lots of moms said they did. Our recruiter said he can just buy one there. What is your son's rate? Mine is aircrew AW. Hope you have a great day! Thanks for checking in :) it's so nice to talk with someone going through the same thing!
Yes I do feel that way too! That wa sweet of your friend! I am about to start laundry...we shall see how that goes. We didn't send him with one because we didn't know! My son didn't seem to know a lot. Ha! He is an aicraft machinits that's all I know. Was thinking air crew at one point.
It is nice to talk to others going through the same thing!!! Thanks :)
Do you know if he goes to A school in Pensacola after bootcamp? I wish we had more time to see them after they graduate! One day after being gone for 8.5 weeks is not enough! My husband got a week of leave after he graduated...many years ago! Did you know there is a facebook page that posts pictures of some of the divisions? I have been checking since yesterday! It made me feel so much better seeing pics of the place and have an idea of what it's like for them. Have a great day!
He will be in Pensacola! Just 1 day including graduation? Or graduation day and the day after? My son's recruiter said anywhere between 1 and 3 I was hoping for 3 :( but I guess we can always visit Pensacola at some point?! I did hear about the Facebook pages but haven't a clue what division he is in? I guess he will let me know or would his recruiter know? I seem to not be in the know. Thanks! My day has been okay, trying to keep busy!
It would be awesome if it were 3! Our recruiter said probably fly out the day after graduation or the night of graduation. I really don't think we'll know until graduation day. I would like to book a hotel for a few days if that's the case :) I've already checked planes, trains and buses to Pensacola. I went grocery shopping today and that was soo hard! I've bought things specifically for him for 18 years! Do you have other children? I have a 19 y.o. Contemplating Marines...I am not encouraging that! I have a 10 y.o. who is having a very hard time without his brother. Are you working? I have summers off so it's even harder to be home all day! Well, I'll check in with you later. One more day down!
Every day (ha it's only been 2 now) I say one more day closer to graduation! I have a 21 year old daughter who lives in California but came home to see Parker leave, and a 13 year old son who said it was sad watching his brother leave. I am a nurse and work nights. I took time off and head back tomorrow.Have a good night!
Missing my boy today. I woke up and saw his guitar propped up against the fireplace and I just miss hearing him play and sing so much :( one day closer.

Sorry, this is so hard on you...However, this will be an amazing step in his life.  My son also left on the 23th.  His recruiter called yesterday and told me that he got his ship 02 and div 941...So the P-days are behind him.  Time will fly by.  Good thoughts for all...

I just received "the box". I cried seeing everything that I last saw him with in a box. Including papers with a signed life insurance policy :( but...we are one step closer to the day I get to see my sailor again!
