My son is signed up and ready tog but his ship date is not until March 15th. I am already feeling anxious about him leaving. And I am trying to get used tothe idea that he will not be living near me for at least the next 5 years, maybe longer. That is the hard part. I know it is for the best. And I know he wants this more than anything so I am so happy for him and so proud of him.

I hope to make friends on here who understand what I am feeling. Unless you have been there and done that it is hard for anyone to understand. So if anyone is from around Martin county or just anyone at all Iwould love to communicate.

But we are getting ahead of ourselves. He should start getting in shape for Boot Camp.

I also posted a comment on your page (click on MY PAGE on the above menu bar and scroll down) with links to various groups and a discussion on how to use this site.

Good luck.
Hi Susan, Welcome to the waiting club. Keep up posted on his new contract,
Good Luck to him!
Hi there ladies!
I was just reading some of your posts and thought I would drop y'all a few lines! LOL My son left for BC in August 2009 and graduated on October 16, 2009 where he graduated number 1 in his division! How proud we were of him! He then went on to NAS in Pensacola. He is in the avionics program. He graduated from NAS in March 2010 where he graduated number 1 again! Ok, so this time his dad and I were estatic! LOL He got to come home for a few days and then off to Norfolk. By early April he was informed that the squadron he was assigned to was on deployment on the USS Eisenhower and he would have to fly out to meet up with them. So, off he went all by himself around the world! But, the great news is the Ike is scheduled to come home very soon!!!! I can't wait to see my son!!!! So, my advice to all of you here is...soak up every single moment and enjoy it. Shower your sons and daughters with hugs and kisses. Even if they protest....do it anyways! LOL Take lots of pics and videos. These things will get you thru ALOT of lonely nights after they leave for BC. One thing I did that my son LOVED was I planned him a surprise going away party a week before he left. At the party I set up a table with pens and paper and had everyone that attended to put there addresses on it. I then bought him a SMALL address book and wrote all the addresses in there for him. He loved it when he got to BC. He had all the addresses of his family and friends so he could write them. But, they don't have alot of time to write there. So, don't expect a ton of letters. I got one every week and so did his girlfriend. In your letters to your sailors ALWAYS encourage them and tell them how proud you are of them and that they are doing a wonderful thing. They really need all the encouragement they can get at this point. BC is H A R D on them....more mentally than physically. I am here for all of you if you need any advice or just need to talk just email me! Happy 4th of July to all.

Angie :)
You will be fine! I thought I had several months before my son would leave to adjust, but one day he came home and said I have to leave in May. I was devastated and tried to find a reason why he couldn't go so soon, but realized it was my own selfish reasons! Bryan left May 25 and is doing great! He is very happy with his decision! You will certainly miss him! But that is what all of us are here for! We support each other! Let me know when your son will be leaving, I will be thinking of you and praying for both of you!
