Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

YES! YES! YES! Back in '06, my younger son was due to go to boot camp for Army cadets (at West Point) within weeks of graduating from high school. OMG! Talk about obnoxiousness. I couldn't wait for him to leave. He had the world figured out - thought his father was hopelessly old-fashioned and outdated and his mother grossly sentimental. Neither of which is true. Finally, one day I said to him, "What exactly is your problem?" He reply, "Mom, I don't want you to miss me too much, so I am helping you adjust to life without me." I was stunned & silent. When I recovered, I declared, "Son, consider us adjusted. Well adjusted. Now stop being an a$$hole."
Ahhh ........... such fond memories. Enjoy these days with your son. Feel free to tell him he no longer has to help you adjust to life without him. Tell him you have Navy For Moms. Additionally, HE might want to sign up for this website created by Craig strictly for deppers - NavyDEP.com

sdees3 - This is God's way of saying it's about time he leaves the nest. God does this to alot of 18yo males so they can go out and explore life for themselves. You just happen to be the "fall guy" right now. I'm actually surprised you said son, because it's usually the gals that have the attitudes. Just ride it through for the next month, and the Navy will wipe out that attitude thing. He will be begging for you to write him in boot camp.
In the mean time, you really need to read this book:

hi...an attitude adjustment? absolutely...my daughter was the same way just before she went in, couldn't wait to just leave and WOW what a change into a wonderful, mature young lady who now loves & misses me! you will see such a change in your son...take care and God Bless him...

My Sailor is home on leave and though I love him dearly, I can relate to the above--too much "gear adrift" around here.

My son also leaves for boot camp in less than a month, although he doesn't act as though I am an inconvenience, he does make comments that I wouldn't expect from him. When I was talking to a friend about it she suggested that maybe it is his way of distancing himself prior to leaving. Maybe so but I don't like it.
