I have no idea if I am doing this right or not but here I go. My son is leaving for boot camp on 8/5/14. I have no idea what to expect. My heart is breaking and i feel so alone. I feel like I am being silly for being so emotional but it is going to be so hard.

You're not alone Connors Mom! My daughter leaves for MEPS the 5th and ships the 6th... Last night she said her see ya's to her brother who lives 3 hours from us, my heart felt like it was going to break watching and wondering how in the world am I going to be able to do this in 10 days?!
We can get they this together... Stay strong and enjoy the time you have with him. Message me if you need to talk. Hugs!

Dannell thank you for your support. I know as time goes it will get easier but will never be the same. We are so very proud of him & know that this is an awesome experience for him.

We are going down with him to MEPS and are going to watch him be sworn in. Will be bittersweet.

Good luck to you and will be thinking about all the other Navy moms like yourself that are going through the same. :)

Thank you!!!! I'm going to go with my daughter as well to watch her be sworn in... What a proud but tough day that will be. She will be leaving from Fargo, ND (we're from MN)then going to MA school in San Antonio after bc.
I'm glad you have your daughter still at home. My daughter is my baby and so once she leaves it will be empty nest for me (and I'm single) so I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself yet!!

We are in Michigan. I feel for you. I should stop & realize how lucky I am. My son has a twin sister & she is staying home & going to college. I had said I was greatful she wasn't going away. So I can only imagine how hard this will be for you.

But ya have Us. Anytime you need to talk let me know.

:) thanks.
My 20 year old son lives 3 hours from me... I asked him to move home lol I will be in touch! Take care!

Hi All,

My son left for BC July 23.  I feel the same way you do...still!  I am not ready to let go!  My son has a twin sister as well who is staying home & going to college.  I am thankful she is still here!

His PIR is Sept 19.  Counting down the days.  I received 'the box' about 5 days after he left.  I completely lost it when the FedEx guy delivered it!

Counting Fridays may be easier on you than counting days until you get to the last week. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC. I left info on groups on your My Page.

How are you doing today? I am growing more anxious by the day. Just wanted to say hi!

Hi Connors Mom!!! :)
I've only cried 3 times today haha
Ah but seriously, I'm a mess. The anxiety is so high. My daughter has everyday planned out to spend with people saying their see ya's... And I'm sitting home trying to do what you have been...absorbing all the info I can! How you hanging in there?

Oh ya just made me cry. I know what ya mean. My son has his week planned out & I won't see him much til Thursday. He is having friends over Saturday & we are having a family dinner on Sunday. That is helping me with all the planning & cooking I will be doing but it is day by day.

You are in my thoughts. Having someone to talk to is helping me. Friends are great but no one really knows how I feel besides someone going through it with me.

Try & have a good evening & will talk again soon.

Thank you, you too!
I know what you are saying... No one else around me understands... Glad us moms have each other. Talk to you soon!

Hi Dannell  It's OK!! I'm having my messy moments today as well.......;)

What information have you been absorbing in? Will she be going to Des Moines for MEPS? and GL for BC?
