Well, while I have been a member for about a month and a half, I have not had the courage until now to post. I was so proud when my son told me he decided to join the Navy. I support him fully. I don't think I could ever be prepared, however for the moment he left. (His recruiter. picked him up today) My heart is lost. The little boy who was the bright spot of my life is suddenly a man. I miss him with every fiber of my being! Tomorrow I will go watch him swear in and then put him on a plane. Eight weeks seems like an eternity.

That is such a hard moment, but you will be so proud of your son and what he will become.
I started that journey last May and my son is now deployed on the USS Abraham Lincoln,

Thank you so much for the links and the information.
We went today and watched our son get sworn in today as well. So very proud of him but also very sad. Sitting here just waiting for my 15 second phone call that he made it to GL to arrive. He has his cell phone with him so he has already sent a text saying he made it safely at O'Hare but no word that he is at GL yet. My son is going to be a CTT and do his schooling in Pensacola Florida after PIR. What job will your son be doing? I wish him the best of luck and we have to stay strong for our kids hopefully these next 8 weeks will go by fast.
We tracked his flight to Ohare on an Iphone app, heard from him when he landed on his cell phone and when he boarded the bus. Got our 35 second phone call from GL at about 11:00 pm Pst. I was ok until I heard his voice break at the end of the call. Now I find myself looking at the pictures of his swearing in ceremony and warching the bootcamp processing days video from this site wondering what he is doing. My son is going into Information Technology and will be schooling in Pensacola, Florida as well. I agree we have to stay strong for them. Time, I'm assuming, and a letter from him will make it easier. Not really expecting communication from him, however, for a couple of weeks. He has a lot to learn and adjust to - that needs to be his focus. All will be well for both our children.
Have you heard from your son? Was just checking in on you,
email is easier sometimes to navigate than these pages feel free to email me or Im on facebook also
