My daughter heads 27 she is going to GW nice to meet you

Hi - my sailor has joined yours - but his last deployment was Middle East, so any advice you have on shipping mail or packages to him now will be appreciated

Hello MZ my daughter is on GW as well..  She just arrived last week so we are really new at this whole Navy thing.. She just finished up A School and came home for a few weeks and now she is gone again.

Is your daughter staying with the GW or will she be moving to one of the other ships?

Hi mznet, My son is on the USS GW also, I can't wait to talk to him.  It's hard having no contact.

you are able to inbox them on FB , just takes a while to get answers>> So hard I know

Hi there, I am getting excited to see my boy in S.D.. can anyone tell me how long they will be there? I keep facebook messaging him the ? and he doesn't reply. He said he will be going back to Japan --- which he hasn't actually even been to yet.  He just met the GW in Australia about a month or so ago.

they are there for almost a month! give or take a few days

Thanks so much, right after you answered me, he messaged me on facebook, saying the same. :)

I agree with djk's Mom about the time frame for the GW but if your son is going to Japan then he is transferring to the Reagan and I don't know if the Reagan will be in S.D. during that same duration of time.  Remember there's 3 carriers involved in this swap!  Hopefully someone who has a sailor transferring to the RR will chime in with more info for you or better yet your son will finally reply to your messages!  I sure hope he likes Japan and has a great experience.  My son really enjoyed it over there.

My son is on the USSGW-transferring over to the Reagan and heading back to Japan where he is stationed.  My understanding is that a "normal"hull swap takes 4 weeks but this hull swap is set to be less in duration.  Exact departure date has changed a couple times but none of them have labeled the transition as taking anywhere near a month.  Best I can say is when the sailors arrive in port "soon", ask them direct and see what the newest date is?  The plan is, the GW will be in port along side Reagan, they will perform the swap and then the Reagan will depart for waters again while the GW heads to the east coast.

I haven't heard anything in a while.  I'd love to compare notes if you want to pm me :)
