Have any other Mothers' experienced their sons pulling away prior to leaving for bootcamp? Maybe in an unconscious effort to make it a little easier on us or them??

Not unusual, and some more than others. No worries though, in about 8 weeks they usually realize those hugs were the best, and can't wait to get another. :)
My Son is leaving on Monday. He is doing just that!!! I keep bugging him though. And I can still get a smirk out of him. I know what I'm feeling, so I cant imagine what he must be going through. We will survive this!!! Thanks for sharing that. I had a feeling that was what was going on, now I know were semi-normal.
My son didn't want me to attend his swearing-in ceremony at MEPS. I honored his wishes because I was holding out for a bootcamp graduation invitation and graduation pictures. I got both! I even got calls while he was gone, although he still won't admit that he misses me. The hardest part for me is that he "doesn't do hugs".
Oh Yes, and it continues. Pretty much ever time you see them it happens. Sad but true.
It has been one week today that my son left for BC and he did the exact same thing. I felt like he was pulling away the last week or so before leaving for BC. I really couldn't figure it out but it did make me worry that he was regretting his decision about joining the Navy. I asked him if everything was alright and he would continuously say he was ready to leave for BC. That would hurt my feelings but I truly don't think he meant it that way. I haven't heard from him since his call that he got to BC okay. Waiting for him to send me his address..... Sounds like it's pretty normal for our kids to pull away but doesn't make it any easier on us.....
YES.... My son left today and just last Friday I yelled at him and told him to KNOCK IT OFF..LOL it was like he was trying to tick me off so he could leave upset with us and it wouldn't hurt as bad.. My MARINE did the same thing....
Same thing here. It's hard, but I know he's ready to go. I'm having a hard time trying to hide my tears. Anyone else just start crying for no reason?
My daughter leaves tomorrow and one minute I am ok, then next minute I am bawling my eyes out. Feel like an emotional mess!
