While we wait for battlestations, I thought I'd see if there are other recruits headed to Sub School in Groton? My son said there were about 8 in his division (I think) and I'm wondering who here has a recruit headed to Sub school.

Marty - What a cutie! I bet they can't wait to see each other again!

Johanna -- thanks for the insight into Groton, that's good to know. I've actually never made it to that part of the country myself and am looking forward to visiting him next spring (maybe for A school graduation).
Cindy the spring beautiful. If he takes you on base down to the docks you can see the Coast Guard Acadamy across the river. That is a great sight, and also have him take you to Mystic. The Mystic Seaport is a great place to visit. It a whaling village.
Johanna-
I spent a year of my schooling in Massachusetts and have always remembered how beautiful Connecticut is. Last we knew, Kelly would have sub training in Groton, then could either stay in Groton, or be sent to WA or GA for electronics school. Secretly, I'm hoping for Groton. Would love to visit that part of the country again!
Very cute baby!

A schools close down for winter break, yes it is considered leave time, they are allowed to go negative for it. I guess if they choose to stay they will be put on normal watch etc, but possible have to move to new quarters, at least they did in great lakes.
Thanks Deb. I sure would love to have him home - especially for his son's first Christmas!
just be warned, last year was a nightmare because of winter weather conditions, alot of stranded sailors mine included. There is a group on here called Sailor rescue or something like that. N4M mom's helped alot of stranded military last year, offering hot meals, warm beds, transportation if able etc.
My new sailor has decided he will only try to come home if the weather is not bad, after what he saw his older brother go through.
Deb I would not worrie to much it is the middle of October and I am walking aroung in a sort sleve shirt and bare feet. I think I herd its going to be a mild winter this year. Like i said before the last time it snowned for Xmas i was a little girl.
lol that is good to know, I just worry because we are on opposite side of the country so long travel during winter for him. Plus I always worry lol.

Just did want you all to know that group exists incase your sailors have trouble getting home during winter. Greyhound stranded my older son and alot of others, just locked the door and said canceled, they ended up taking a limo..only thing driving still, to the airport to find out it was shut down..etc etc lol. long 4 days for my family, longer for others.
Hey, everyone - Gloria from the Groton group just sent me a link with a ton of info about subs. I printed it up and it's 14 pages. Reading material while we wait :)

I posted this to the main PR 10-16 site, but Kelly told his wife last night that they will leave for Groton on Tuesday, but will be on hold for sub school for a month.
