Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Thanksgiving and Adopt a Sailor - help?!

Okay, I've seen the form for "Adopt a Sailor 2011" and I think the program is incredible but I want to adopt my son, the sailor, for the day because we have family that lives within 45 minutes of GL.  I would happily bring home a couple additional ones too!  Does anyone know how to accomplish this or what form to fill out??

Denise -

I did see your post and read it from top to bottom but nowhere did it give you a place to state a specific sailor or ask if you had a relative at GL.  I can't imagine the Navy would put it together all by themselves that our last names are the same.  Am I missing something??

The word from RTC is that there is no restrictions as to who can take part in the Adopt a sailor in GL at this time for Thanksgiving. Copy the app and get it in. State on the app your SR's name.

Only those Recruits in TG 03 (PIR 12/02/2011) and TG 05 (PIR 12/16/2011) are eligible for this program and will be given information and the opportunity to send out forms.  See Thanksgiving Adopt-A-Sailor program Nov. 24, 2011.

The recruit sends a letter home IF they are eligable for the adopt a Sailor program.  Looking at your page, it seems your recruit just got to bootcamp, so he won't be eligable for this program.

shannon, He MIGHT be eligible since he left last week.  If, when you get the form letter, you find out he is in one of the two groups, then you can watch for the letter with info from your SR.  Otherwise, know that he will have a nice dinner at the RTC and will most likely get to call you.

Conflicting information...  who should I call to find out?  His PIR is 12/02/2011 Ship 04, Div 802.

Don't call anyone.  Wait for the letter with the information from him--you might let him know in a letter that you want to adopt him (and perhaps another buddy or 2) and you will be looking for the form.  He is in the group that will be adopted. See the RTC's fB page:  Thanksgiving Adopt-A-Sailor program Nov. 24, 2011 for more information.
