Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

The Navy won't allow my fiance to send letters or call...
My fiancé left for Navy basics on June 15. I just received a call from him and some guys in his group messed up big, and now they are not allowed to send/receive letters and call their loved ones until they graduate in late August. Even after good behavior, could they overturn their decision at all? It will be hard for the both of us all because of one guy's actions.
I just moved to a new state with no friends or family here and now that I won't expect a Saturday call or letter, that just devastates me especially since we won't be able to see each other until Thanksgiving.

The RDC is not permitted to withhold mail as a punishment because that would be a federal offense, so your recruit will receive mail from you on the day that it is processed at the RTC. I sincerely hope that your SR misunderstood what was said. Email the PAO at rtc.pao@navy.mil and let them know the division number and the situation as you know it so that it can be checked out.
Phone calls, on the other hand, are at the RDC's discretion and are given when s/he schedules them and s/he may not choose to schedule any more until the "I'm a Sailor!" call. It would be unusual to get a phone call every Saturday anyway. (See Phone Cards and Phone Calls.)

I also invite you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), Girlfriends, Fiances,andWives of Sailors, PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening, but you will also want to check out the other Pages in all of the groups.

Odds are the are only allowed to get or send letters on one day a week, the RDC's can do that.

Once recruits are in their permanent ship, mail must be delivered on the day that it is processed at the RTC, so RDC's can't withhold mail, but they can limit writing privileges to one day a week.
