For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Trip to San Diego
So what is there to do out there. I hear it's beautiful but need to know travel and tourism information. Please send me your suggestion on places to go and things to see. The only thing I can think of is the San Diego Zoo!

Wow, there's so many many things to do out in SD.
USS Midway tour is awesome (tour of an actual aircraft carrier).
Drive around Coronado Island & just look at the houses & the hotel Del Coronado. Drive over the bridge, it's so interesting.
Go to Old Town & have tacos on Taco Tuesday -- Cafe Coyote is famous for em, but many places have good ones.
If you want amazing sushi go to Harney Sushi in Old Town harneysushi.com/ It is incredibly good.
Spend a day (or two) exploring the walking trails, gardens & museums in Balboa Park. The rose garden, the desert garden & the Botanical Building are some of my favorites. There are miles & miles of trails, over a dozen specialty gardens & over a dozen museums in the park, Oh, and the zoo is there too!
Go up to LaJolla & walk along the beach & see the sea lions up close. They love to bask in the sun on the rocks there.
There's an Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista. It's pretty neat & doesn't take up a whole day or anything.
Go to see the Old Point Loma Lighthouse at Cabrillo National Monument. The drive out to the point has some nice pull overs, a neat military cemetery, etc.
Amusement Parks? Small quaint one .. Belmont Park in Mission Beach (right on the water), Sea World & Lego Land are all close.
Go whale watching, or skin diving w/ the seals, or on a hike down to the beach through Torrey Pines State Nature Reserve.
Go have gelato & wander around Little Italy.
Go to Hodad's for a huge burger & even bigger chocolate malt. It was featured on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives. It's in the Ocean Beach area, i think.
Like baseball? Petco Park is nice.
Wander around the Gaslamp Quarter area of downtown. Neat shops & whatnot to explore.
Get a comfy chair, a book & go sit on the beach & read.
So many things to do, so many choices. You can do nature. You can do total tourist. You can shop. You can do high-end. You can do simple & cheap. Active or sloth. i guess it all depends on what type of things you wanna do. No matter WHAT you decided, make sure your sailor goes to the Nex ticket office & buys discount tickets for you to use, if the places need tickets. ;)
If you're looking for any kinda specific type of activity, let me know. Daughter lives out there & she's done lots & lots showing ppl around during her time there. We've had lots of fun out there in our 2 short visits.

If you are a baseball fan, Petco park is one of my favorite places to see a game, and I've been to almost every ballpark. You can even go early and do a tour of the park.
Also, their zoo and See World are world renown.

BTW, not a bad seat in the park, and if you climb to the top of the upper deck in right field, you can see many of the Naval ships lined up.

Qualcomm is where the Chargers play. It's out by Mission Valley. Petco is Padres' stadium & is downtown.

Hi my son is in san Diego too.we are going to see him soon it will a short visit and we want to enyoy as much we can with him.even the he always hang out on the weekends with his friend at the san diego base he dont know where we should stay.can anyone help with suggestions this is big sacrifice. But we miss him so much he is in the naval hospital at camp Pendleton.
