Info on the trip to A school after PIR

After PIR, Sailor get some Liberty call..They would need to go back to base at 1900. If they will have their A school in Chicago they may stay up with their family in the hotel... Some get to spend some more time since they will depart to the Sunday or Monday. SOME WILL LEAVE THE DAY AFTER. So you have to bring them back to the base. They will know what time they will go to the Airport. You could follow them in the airport to bring their cell phone and Laptop. You may spend time with them until boarding time. DELTA issues a temporary pass so you can go with them after security check...

So after PIR so could plan your trip... There are no info before PIR available but you could opt to stay until Sunday or Monday.

Liberty, they get liberty.  That is normal time off, such as weekends and evenings.  Leave is their earned paid vacation days, which are entirely different.

I was not referring to paid leave. This is n only an information on Sailors that are leaving Chicago to go to the another base for A school...

It is in no way about PTO, Sick time, vacation leave or any personal leave... This is only meant for love ones planning to attend PIR and options that they have... Thanks

I understand your intent, but it is very important to use the right terms.  Calling a day of liberty "leave" is very confusing.  Leave is always paid earned days, liberty is always regular time off.  One allows travel past the liberty limits, the other does not.  The Navy is very detail oriented, very specific in terms, so get used to using more precise information.

No one gets leave after boot camp, so if you are interchanging the terms leave and liberty, a family member would not understand that the sailors get any time off at all!

Here is a discussion of the difference between the two, if anyone is confused:

And I know the way I post can be read as rude, but I was not trying to be insulting or make light of your contribution.

It's ok... any contribution in here is appreciated... it's suppose to help family get a bit more information... We are walking in the dark here... it makes a difference to give families something to hope for....

The destination is not a family vacation... it's not easy to commute and also not cheap... only a handful of people knows that you could go to the airport and be with your love ones, even for that very last day that they stay in Great Lakes.

Overall the PIR is both stressful and emotional.. I saw my daughter after graduation for 5 hours after 2 months... I would not miss a chance to be with her, to see her and give her a kiss. To let her know that I am proud of her...
