Every thing helps, thank you so much.  Don't know what I would do without N4M.

big big Hugs!

Ps...what the heck is the "ricky crud"  ???

It's from the book Honor Courage Commitment - Navy boot camp - It is basically like the flu!  I guess
that's what they call it!  The Recruits are called Ricki's by the RDC's and other sailors.  (at least in

the book)  I really recommend reading it - The author J.F. Leahy is a retired Navy guy that went back to boot camp to write about the experience.  It is from the Recruits point of view mainly - it is a good easy quick read!!  It makes you laugh and cry - My husband has read it twice - I am half way thru it -

OMG.  I did get the book, but I have kept myself soooo busy outside in this beautiful So Cal weather, that I haven't turned on the TV in a week.  I guess when I "come down" I will pick it up.
My son is here.No letter yet no phone calls.I am waiting. On the I have arrived phone call he said maybe a call in 3 weeks? We got the box and the Info Letter with just an I am ok and miss you on the bottom.Any phone calls yet?
I got one last Thursday - it was for more information - he needed contact information on a few more people for his security clearance.  but couldn't really talk - but it sure was GREAT to hear his voice.  Watch for area code 847 to come up on the phone!!  and DO NOT GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT YOUR CELL PHONE!!  lol  I was at lunch with a co-worker everyone in the restaurant looked at me when my phone rang I must have yelled - ITS MY SON!!!  LOL  I answered it and got up and went to the lobby area so I could talk to him!!  I didn't even think - just reacted!  I left my friend eating her lunch all by herself - after the call I couldn't eat and had to ask for a to go box!!  LOL
Are they calling collect from 847 or is it a calling card? I wasn't sure if you could get a collect call on a cell phone. I am forwarding all my home calls to the cell.

ronniesmom - I'm not sure if you can receive a collect call to a cell - did you send a calling card?  If so I would guess that it would just show up as the 847 area code -  The call I got I think was on the Navy's dime as it was for security info - I could tell he was sitting with someone as he had to ask them questions because I didn't have all the info he wanted at that time.  What rate is he? (job)

OMG, you got a phone call????????   I am soo jealous!  I think Matt did all of his security stuff either with his recruiter, or in San Diego.  He is headed to Goose Creek, SC  from BC.

oneluvdmom - what job is your SR going in for?

Yes it was great to just hear his voice even if it was short and basicly yes and no answers!!

I cant wait for a "real" phone call!!!

Has anyone got a "real" letter yet?  I can't wait to start sharing info with each other!!!

My SR is going in for Nuke
No "real" letter yet or phone call. Still anxiously awaiting either/both of those!!
