OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Check out and join ANYONE WHO HAS A SAILOR ON THE USS SIMPSON and/or Frigate Moms.  What is your Sailor's rating (job/specialty)? There may be a group for that as well.

My son is an FC3 aboard the Simpson.

Hi Maggie!  My son is on the USS Simpson and he is an IT.  This is his second

deployment with the Simpson.  On the last deployment, the ship was already

out for about 3 months and my son was in "C" school so he and some others

had to fly out and "meet" the ship in Spain.  There are many times when the

internet is down so if you haven't got an e-mail from your son that is usually

why. (I have not heard anything from my son as of yet).  Also, They are very

BUSY and have to work long days so they are usually pretty tired when they

are through.  Are you on facebook?  The Simpson has an ombudsman and

she is very helpful and informative.  You can send her a friend request to

"Simpson Ombudsman Michalene".  I find that she is the best source of info

for the Simpson.  Also, There is a Simpson Support Group on Facebook.

I'll also try to answer any of your questions :)

Thank you for your help and good information. It really helps. I finally got an email response, and that helps. Here's to keeping the peace!

Glad you got to hear from him.  I heard from my son as well..

and yes, Peace!

My son leaves Monday.
