Hi there,
I have a question regarding leave for my sailor. We are planning a family vacation out of the country.
Our sailor has the dates off that will allow her to go with us. My question is, will she be able to travel
with the famioly out side of the united states during her leave?
Many thanks,
Fbm

No matter what you hear here, I'd strongly suggest she check with a superior on base. Good question. I'll be curious as to the answer. My guess is no, she can't.
She better let her bosses know as she has to do LOTS of paper work to get approval to travel outside of the country...and YES it can be denied that she is going outside the country
I haven't heard that travel to Mexico is allowed again... she absolutely must check on this, and if told yes, get it in writing. Word of mouth will not do.

Just where out of country?
She needs to talk to her chain of command, and she needs to get permission. Also, keep in mind, when she puts in her leave request, she needs to put an address where she will be on it. If she's not going to physically be at your house, she needs to not list that address. It doesn't matter if that's where you all live and she's with you, she would have to put the name of the hotel she's going to be at, etc, on it.
But she really needs to talk to her chain of command about it and make sure it's approved. (Plus, if she has a security clearance, there are some countries / regions that she won't be allowed to go to for leisure travel, for safety reasons.)
