My son filled out his paperwork back the first week of January...and is still waiting for his recruiter to "get all the paperwork" back...it feels like he is no hurry to get my son in for his physical, etc...said it "sometimes just takes a while..."...has anyone else experienced this or is this standard?  We are frustrated..he was so excited to join and now it seems like the process has stalled....curious as to how it went for others when their sons/daughters went through the whole recruitment process....thanks!

I know the Navy is overmanned right now so they're in no hurry to do anything. It's true that sometimes "it takes a while" but keep on the recruiter's tail and don't forget, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Has he taken his ASVAB test yet? In the meantime he should get himself into good physical shape. He'll need it.
It's been 11 months since my son was offered a rate in the Navy. It took us 5 trips to Tampa before they even had anything to offer. I imagine it might be even more of a bottle neck now! With the economy the way it is a lot of people are looking at the services for security.

My son leaves for bootcamp on Tuesday, it's been a loooong wait, but I'm sure it will be worth it. Hang in there!
My son got his paperwork started about the same time you did, and we still don't know anything either. I thought it was probably because of some legal matters my son had, but we didn't know. He talked to his recruiter on Monday to see if he knew anything yet and the rc told him no and asked if he would be interested in the army. That is real big let down, but we haven't heard a 'no' so we will keep praying. I heard that the navy is being very thorough with their applications so maybe you will hear something soon. Just keep in touch with the rc so he knows that you are serious. Good luck to you and your son!
Thanks to all for replying...your comments help. Yes...I have heard they are very thorough..he lasik eye surger a month ago so his vision would be acceptable for the Seals program, which he wants to get in...and they are reviewing that...and we know this will delay the boot camp a bit...he has taken his test and scored well...he has been accepted at two colleges but I really feel the Navy is the right decision for him...I have relatives in it and they all really like it...thanks!
Did anyone else have issues with their recruiter not getting forms sent to the high school, doctor, etc? It has been over two months and the recruiter kept saying he hadn't heard anything, but when I questioned our doctor and high school counselor..they have yet to hear from the recruiter!
